Chapter 3

Susan sat down, smiling politely, and started talking to the men.

She was calm and in control, telling Tony what to do.

"Honey, what are you staring at? We need to apologize to everyone."

"It's all Tony's fault. He had to take my car to visit my parents yesterday, and the car had an issue, and that's why we were late."

Tony snapped out of it, agreeing with everything she said and pouring drinks for everyone.

Susan took the glass from Tony. "Sorry about my husband, he is afraid of me. Sorry for the wait."

She paused, then changed her tone, "But, his business skills are on point. If Tony can't handle something, just call me."

She raised her glass and tossed it back. Three shots of whiskey, without flinching.

"What a woman!" Mark applauded. "Lucky you, Tony!"

"Absolutely, your wife has more guts than we do."

Susan was smart and everyone admired her.

I didn't have any feelings, no humiliation at all.

Because I was the mistress, and I did not deserve anything.

Susan glanced at me, she sent a message.

You are worthless.

"I'm going to the restroom."

Lisa stood up and came over to me, wanting me to go with her.

I followed her out of the room.

In the bathroom, Lisa spoke through the mirror.

"You're pretty and young, why be a mistress? Get money the easy way?"

I appreciated her kindness, and gave a sad smile.

"I don't have any skills or education, and that's the best way to survive."

She sighed, and went on. "That is not an excuse to degrade yourself."

I looked at Jake's fiance, she was quite and elegant. She probably never experienced struggle.

How do I explain to her?

Because I can't work for my mom's hospital fees, and I don't have any skill.

When the dinner was over, and the only people in the room were Tony, Susan, and me.

Susan finally went off the chain and slap me.

"The man's play thing, shameless bitch."

"How dare you show up in business setting, did your parent teach you anything?"

She kicked me and cursed me.

I wanted to tell her that my dad died, and my mom lost half of her body and went nuts, and nobody taught me anything.
