Chapter 2

2.

Chelsea’s face flickered with panic for a split second. “Why is it green…”

She quickly recovered, forcing an awkward smile.

“So what if it’s green? Green is trendy this season. It makes you look younger.”

Watching her pathetic acting made a wave of nausea rise in my throat.

“Is that so?” I gave a sarcastic smirk. “Then I really should thank you for being so thoughtful.”

“By the way, you charged a luxury custom-tailored suit to my Black Card this morning.”

“Who was that for? Mason Reed?”

Her expression turned venomous. “Are you spying on me?”

“Garrett! It was barely twenty grand!”

“Do you really need to be this petty? Didn’t I just buy you a gift!”

I was so furious that I chuckled. “Chelsea, what exactly do you take me for?”

“You use my money to sugar-daddy a boy toy, and now you’re blaming me for keeping score?”

Chelsea crossed her arms and sneered.

“Mason is my personal assistant! Stop dragging his name through the mud. Just because you’re jealous of his youth and looks doesn’t mean you can throw wild accusations. We have a strictly professional relationship!”

Of course, I knew Mason was her assistant.

He was handsome, twenty-two, worked with her around the clock, and looked eerily like a younger version of me.

I had known about her cheating for weeks.

I noticed it from the late nights, the suspicious texts popping up on her screen, and seeing her kissing a man by the garage.

I knew all of it.

I had acted like a coward, pretending to be blind just to keep the peace.

From twenty to thirty, Chelsea had loved me for ten whole years.

I couldn’t just tear that out of my heart overnight.

I decided to give her one final chance. “Will you fire him?”

Chelsea didn’t hesitate for a single second. “No way! Stop picking fights. Keep this up, and we’re getting a divorce!”

Divorce?

Maybe that really was our only way out.

Her phone rang loudly, breaking the silence. She glanced at the screen, took the call, and her voice instantly turned sweet and soft. “Hey, Mason. What’s up?”

She walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, turning her back to me. She whispered with a radiant smile blooming on her face.

Looking at her silhouette, I felt utterly ridiculous and miserable.

After exchanging just a few hushed words, she grabbed her coat and rushed out the door.
