Chapter 3

"You want a divorce? Fine! The girls stay with me."

He's still defending Brenda.

I should have seen this coming.

I woke up too late, and my babies are gone.

"You have the nerve to talk about them? You haven't been a father since they were born!" I scoff.

"Why not? I work my ass off. It's all for them! They always say how much they love me!"

Mark glances at me.

"Where did you take the girls? If you don't bring them back right now, you'll never see them again after the divorce."

I laugh, but it turns into sobs.

If there was a chance, I would walk away.

Even if they never called me mom again.

If they were alive and happy.

But they aren't.

I point to the urns.

"Mark, they're gone. Those are our daughters' ashes!"

Mark pauses, frowns, but then explodes at me.

"Sarah, you're cursing your own daughters! Are you even a mother? Lily and Mia were fine three days ago!"

I cut him off again.

"Three days ago. They were killed because you left them on the road! That was the last time i saw them alive."

"You killed them! You don't deserve to be their dad!"

Mark is stunned.

Brenda sashays forward, playing the damsel.

"Sarah, you're just putting on a show to get Mark's attention. Mark is Lily and Mia's father. Someone would have told him if they died."

"You probably just brought in two boxes of dirt, trying to fool him."

"You can fool Mark, but you can't fool me!"

Mark looks at me with suspicion, and he thinks I'm crazy.

"Sarah, you lying bitch! How could you?"

"I'm going to smash those urns and see how you like it!"

Brenda starts towards the urns.

I slapped her across the face, as hard as I could.

"You will never, ever touch my daughters again!"

"Sarah, you psycho! You hit Brenda!"

Mark pushes Brenda behind him, looks at me like he wants to kill me.

These two killed my daughters, and I want to watch them burn.

I only pushed Brenda, but she stumbles backwards, screaming for Mark to help her.

"Mark, she's trying to kill me!"

I laugh, cold and bitter. Watching her act.
