After seven years with Sierra Shen, I got a call from a wedding planner asking about my preferences for the ceremony’s decor.

I thought the woman who never believed in marriage had finally changed her mind and was about to propose to me.

But when I went to bring her lunch, I found an invitation on her desk.

It had her name on it, next to the name of her male secretary.

He had even posted about it on social media, gloating, “Thanks to CEO Shen for breaking her own rules for me and making my lifelong dream come true: to be her groom!”

I confronted her, my eyes burning with tears.

She just screamed at me.

“What the hell are you making a scene for, Julian! It’s just a ceremony to help him out, I’m not actually marrying him! Stop being so dramatic all the time!”

In that moment, my heart turned to ash.
