Chapter 3
03
I was in the middle of my twenty-eighth discussion regarding a patient's recovery plan.
But this time was different. At the crowded dining table, the elusive Director suddenly appeared.
"Discussing work? So diligent. As expected of the top-tier talent we hired from the big cities. "
The group had been annoyed, but they perked up as soon as they heard the Director's voice.
"Of course. Our team always maintains a responsible attitude toward patients, " Kayla said sweetly.
Ignoring the Director's inspection, I continued.
"We need to focus on this patient's post-op recovery. The family emphasized that the elderly patient has a low platelet count. We must be extremely careful with the surgical wound and check it daily. "
"Disinfection must be perfect. An elderly person can't survive repeated infections. "
Usually, no one spoke up, but today Kayla decided to give her input.
"Summer, I know you have more seniority, but the professors in the big cities don't focus on these minor details. "
The Director's eyes lit up. "Oh? Kayla, what's your take? "
Kayla cleared her throat and began her "expert" speech.
"Famous professors say that the patient's psychology and emotions are what matters most. It directly affects the patient's rating of our hospital. "
"We are in the service industry. If the patients are happy, the ratings go up, and our hospital can reach the next level. "
What was she even talking about?
Before I could argue, the Director spoke.
"Kayla is right. When patients come here, we don't just cure the disease; we have to take care of their minds. "
"I'll call a meeting immediately to discuss implementing this vision. "
This... So, while psychological health is important, isn't the priority actually curing the patient?
Kayla's "divine" speech sounded plausible, but it was basically total nonsense.
The Director, however, was completely blinded by Kayla's phrase "reach the next level. "
He didn't care about anything else. Instead, he put on an air of authority to lecture me.
"People from the big cities have a broader vision. They consider things more comprehensively. Summer, don't think you can ignore this just because you're a veteran. This is the kind of knowledge money can't buy. "
"We are implementing this nationwide immediately. "
It turned out the Director's "discussion" was just a mass message in the hospital group chat: "To keep up with the times, the hospital has decided to include patient psychological health as a core part of nursing duties starting today. "
My phone was cold, and my heart was even colder.
The Director didn't care about the patients. He cared about the hospital's reputation and the "innovative" ideas these city grads brought.
Everything else was irrelevant to him.
That's everything available right now.
