Chapter 1
I had been diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was a kid.
I often did and said things that made no sense to normal people.
Because of this, my marriage became my parents' biggest headache.
My dad was the wealthiest tycoon in Chicago, and he introduced me to countless girls, but my alter ego drove every single one away with vicious curses.
Nobody knew that my second personality could see right through a person's soul.
Every woman brought before me was just after our money.
They all had hidden agendas, so I stayed single until both of my parents passed away.
Eventually, our family elders had no choice but to arrange a match with the eldest daughter of the Lawson family, Valerie Lawson.
There was a catch to this arrangement.
The Lawson family had hit a financial crisis, and only our family had the capital to bail them out.
【This woman has a clingy childhood best friend named Sean Price. Total nightmare.】
Listening to my alter ego's warning, I refused the marriage with everything I had.
However, the elders ignored my protests and forced us down the aisle anyway.

On our wedding day, I was in a terrible mood, ready to snap at any second.
My alter ego was itching to cause a massive scene.
Whenever he disliked something, he threw a tantrum.
I glanced at Valerie Lawson beside me in her white gown, and her expression was just as sour as mine.
【This woman is using you. She doesn't give a damn about you. She's nothing but a scheming little bitch!】
My alter ego hurled non-stop insults at Valerie inside my head.
Valerie's face grew darker and darker.
Finally, she could not take it anymore and snapped, "Rhett, could you keep your filthy mouth shut?"
I stared at her in utter shock because I had not said a single word out loud.
"Excuse me? What did I do to you? Are you out of your mind?"
My alter ego continued his relentless barrage, dragging her entire ancestry into the gutter.
"Rhett Mercer! Are you cursing me out in your head right now?" Valerie yelled, pushed past her breaking point.
What the actual fuck? How could she hear that?
Mind reading? Telepathy? Wasn't that some cheap fantasy novel trope?
Besides, my second personality was doing the talking, not me.
Back when he insulted other women, nobody had ever heard him, so why could she?
I kept my mouth shut and let my alter ego keep tearing into her.
She had no physical proof anyway, and nobody else could hear a thing.
Right as we were about to exchange our vows, the doors swung open.
A man dressed in a sharp suit walked in, looking like a total snake.
He held a lush bouquet of flowers and stared tenderly at Valerie.
This was none other than Valerie's beloved childhood friend, Sean Price.
The two of them had always shared a messy, codependent bond that nobody could untangle.
【Look at him, dressed like a gentleman while scheming like a rat. Total fake bastard, pulling this stunt on purpose.】
【And look at your brain-dead wife. She sees him and drools like a dog staring at a pile of shit. She can barely walk!】
【Why the hell did you marry this trash? You brought this misery on yourself!】
My second personality kept firing insults at the two of them.
Valerie's expression twisted with humiliation at being called a dog.
She glared at me, but without proof, she could not make a scene.
Sean marched straight onto the stage in front of all the guests and handed the flowers to Valerie.
"Valerie, you look breathtaking today. It would be truly perfect if I were the one standing by your side."
【Barf! I'm gonna puke! How can a grown-ass man be such a manipulative whore? Let me out, I want to beat him to death!】
【I've never seen such a shameless prick. Who the hell is he trying to disgust?】
I smirked, completely indifferent, since I never wanted this wedding in the first place.
I looked at Valerie and said, "He's right. How about I step aside so you two can take my spot? Save me the headache."
Seeing me turn to leave, Valerie grabbed my arm in a panic. "Rhett, can you grow up for once?"
"He just came to see me. Do you really have to be so petty?"
"Today is our wedding day. Be the bigger man! Act like an actual man for once!"
【What kind of brain-dead logic is that? Is this bitch insane? Hypocrite of the century!】
【If a woman ran up here and said that to you, how would she feel? Fucking clown!】
Valerie was speechless.
"Rhett, are you done cursing me out? You've been going at it for fifteen straight minutes. Aren't you tired?"
I stared blankly at her, utterly stunned that she really could hear him.
I glanced casually at Sean and said, "He wants to marry you, and I don't. You two go ahead and tie the knot."
Seeing me walk away, Valerie panicked completely.
If I walked out, the Lawson family would collapse, and they would never recover financially.
Valerie's parents scrambled in fear, terrified that I would blow up the entire wedding.
Valerie quickly hooked her arm around mine and looked down at Sean. "Sean, today is my wedding with Rhett. Please step down."
"Fine, I'll do whatever you say. Please don't be mad, Valerie," Sean replied softly before stepping off the stage.
【Dumbasses! Every single person in this room is a complete dumbass!】
Valerie could only grit her teeth in silence.
