Chapter 1

At Sinclair Enterprises' Autumn Gala, someone brought a male model straight to Valerie Sinclair right in front of my face.

Valerie's usually composed face froze for a fraction of a second.

That model looked strikingly like her late first love, Graham Brooks.

Valerie actually teased them, which was rare for her.

"You've got serious guts, bringing a man to me right in front of my husband."

The guest chuckled, eager to please. "Mr. Thorne is always so generous. He won't mind something this minor."

It wasn't that I didn't mind. They had just calculated that I wouldn't dare to speak up.

How could a live-in husband raised on Sinclair charity dare to question the new CEO of Sinclair Enterprises?

Suddenly, I felt exhausted.

Looking at Valerie not far away, her eyes brimming with barely concealed amusement, I realized I couldn't keep up the Sinclair family's dignified facade anymore.

1.

Before Valerie could say a word of agreement, I had already crossed the floor and stood in front of her.

With a light push of my hand, the towering champagne tower behind me came crashing down.

Just like my feelings for Valerie, it shattered instantly.

Shattered glass and champagne sprayed everywhere, plunging the ballroom into complete chaos.

Someone gasped, "Logan has lost his mind."

I had ruined Sinclair Enterprises' grand gala.

Yet Valerie didn't seem to care that much.

The PR team was already ushering the guests out, and cleaning crews quickly moved in to sweep up the mess.

The male model was told to stay, standing quietly behind Valerie.

Even his calm demeanor was the spitting image of her late first love.

Standing next to him, I truly looked like the unhinged one.

Valerie twirled the wedding band on her finger, glancing up at me with effortless nonchalance. "Why such a temper?"

"If you don't want to see him, I'll set him up in an apartment outside."

"Don't worry. I promised Grandpa I would never threaten your position as my husband."

The man behind her chimed in to soothe me.

"Mr. Thorne, I only admire Ms. Sinclair. I would never interfere with your status."

"Besides, why get so angry? A woman as powerful as Ms. Sinclair was never meant to have just one man by her side."

I pulled off my wedding band and held it out to Valerie.

"Take the ring back."

She arched a brow, took the ring, and casually tossed it over her shoulder. The diamond glinted under the chandeliers before landing in the hands of the male model.

"Keep it. A million-dollar ring, and Mr. Thorne throws it away just like that."

Valerie let out a cold scoff and stood up, turning to her assistant.

"Hire someone to teach Mr. Thorne basic etiquette. I never want to see such disgraceful behavior again."

She took a few steps, then paused.

She slipped off her own wedding band and tossed it onto the floor.

The metal ring clattered and rolled across the marble, stopping right by my shoes.

"Since you don't want the rings, we might as well throw both away."
