At our engagement gala, my fiancé tore my dress to shreds in front of hundreds of high-society guests.

All because his childhood best friend wore the exact same designer gown.

Before I could process the shock, Jason shoved me backward, sending me crashing into the freezing waters of the fountain.

"You malicious bitch," he sneered down at me. "I agreed to marry you, and you still go out of your way to humiliate Mindy?"

Soaked and shivering, I dragged myself out of the water, only to freeze at the sight before me.

Jason was waving over a dozen rough-looking street thugs gathered outside the gates.

"She is all yours," he announced coldly. "Do whatever the hell you want with her."

The mob surrounded me instantly, their dirty hands reaching for my exposed skin.

I sobbed, begging Jason to make them stop, but he merely turned his back and covered Mindy's eyes.

"Don't look, sweetie," he murmured gently. "It's filthy."

A week later, Jason finally remembered my existence.

He showed up at my apartment holding a bouquet of red roses.

"As long as you stop acting up, our wedding will go on as planned," he said, expecting gratitude.

I stared at his handsome, indifferent face without any emotion left in my heart.

"Mr. Vance, I don't want to marry you anymore."
