Chapter 3
Life at university was starting to fall into place for each of the students. The first days had passed, and they were starting to find their bearings. The campus came alive with the rhythm of classes, meetings and first friendships.
Alice and Chloé found themselves in the common room of their residence. They had learned that they would be roommates for the rest of the year, news that delighted them both. They spent their first evening together in their room, still surrounded by half-unpacked boxes.
"I'm really glad we're roommates," Chloe said, moving a box full of art supplies. "It's always better to live with someone you know a little."
"Me too," Alice replied, smiling. "And it'll be nice to be able to talk about our days and support each other."
Chloe nodded. "Exactly. So, tell me a little more about yourself. What brought you here?"
Alice sat down on her bed, crossing her legs beneath her. "Well, I've always been passionate about political science. I grew up in a poor family, so I had to work hard to get a scholarship. This university is an incredible opportunity for me."
Chloe smiles. "It's great. I came here to study art. I hope to become a recognized artist one day. I love creating, it's like therapy for me."
The two young women spent the evening discussing their dreams, their families, and their first impressions of college. They laughed and shared personal stories, creating deep connections in a short time.
"You know," said Chloé, turning to Alice, "I think we're going to become very good friends."
Alice smiles and nodded. "Yes, I think so too."
Meanwhile, Bruno and Émilie finished a long study session in one of the rooms in the library. They worked on their management project, and despite fatigue, they were satisfied with the progress they had made.
"I think we have advanced this evening," said Émilie, putting out her things. "Thank you for your help, Bruno."
"No problem," he replied, smiling. "We have a good team."
They left the library together, walking side by side in the freshness of the night. The campus was calm, the lights of the lampposts creating a peaceful atmosphere.
"Do you want me to take you to your residence?" proposed Bruno. "It's late, and it's not very certain to walk alone."
Émilie hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, thank you. It would be nice. "
They continued to discuss along the way, sharing anecdotes from their lives and their ambitions. Bruno appreciated Emilie's company. She was intelligent, determined and had a sense of humor that made her smile.
Arrived in front of Emilie's residence, Bruno turned to her. "I had a good evening. Working with you makes things more interesting. "
"Me too," replied Émilie, a smile on his lips. "Thank you for having accompanied me, Bruno."
They remained for a moment in silence, looking at each other, before Émilie leaned forward and deposited a light kiss on Bruno's cheek. "Good night."
Bruno smiles, feeling a pleasant warmth spread in him. "Good night, Émilie."
Meanwhile, David was at the center of an argument in the hall of his residence. Another student, Tom, seemed to have a problem with him, and the tension was palpable.
"I don't understand why you do all this cinema, Tom," says David, his calm but his eyes brilliant with anger.
"Because you think you're superior to everyone," Tom replied, his face red with anger. "You think that because you come from a rich family, you can treat others like nothing."
David sighed. "I don't think I'm superior. If you have a problem with me, say it clearly instead of causing a scene."
"The problem is your arrogance," Tom spat. "You think you're owed everything."
The crowd that had gathered around them murmured, the students watching the scene with interest. Chloé, who was passing by, approached, worried about David.
"David, that's enough," she said, placing herself between the two young men. "There's no point in continuing this argument."
David looked at Chloe, his face softening slightly. "You're right. It's not worth it." He turned to Tom. "If you still have problems, we will talk about it calmly. Good night."
Tom growled but didn't respond, walking away in a bad mood. Chloe took David's hand and led him aside.
"What happened?" she asked softly.
David sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Tom misinterpreted a situation. I didn't pay attention to his running comment, and he thought I was deliberately ignoring him. It's just a misunderstanding."
Chloe nodded. "All right. But you have to be more careful, David. People here don't know you yet. They can easily get the wrong ideas."
"I know," David whispered, gently squeezing Chloe's hand. "Thank you for helping me."
She smiled and pulled him a little further. "Come on, let's go get some coffee. We need to relax after this."
They headed to a late-night cafe on campus, settling in a quiet corner. David appreciated Chloe's presence. She had a way of calming him down and making him feel better.
"I'm sorry you had to see that," he said, taking a sip of his coffee. "That's not the kind of first impression I wanted to give."
"Don't worry," Chloe replied with a smile. "People will come to know you for who you really are."
David nodded, grateful. "I hope."
They spent the rest of the evening talking, laughing and discovering more about each other. Their bond grew stronger, and David felt lucky to have found someone like Chloé.
Back in their room, Alice and Chloe continued to confide in each other. Alice talked about Professor Laurent and the impression he had made on her.
"He seems really nice," Chloe said, listening attentively. "Do you think he could become a mentor to you?"
"Maybe," Alice replied. "He seems very approachable and willing to help his students. I hope I can learn a lot from him."
Chloe smiles. "I'm sure you'll get there, Alice. You have so much determination."
Alice blushed slightly. "Thank you, Chloe. And you, how are things going with David?"
Chloe laughs softly. "It's going well. It's different from what I imagined, in a good way. He has this protective side which is really nice."
"I'm happy for you," Alice said. "It's good to see you found someone you feel good with."
The two young women continued to talk until late at night, feeling closer and closer. They knew they could count on each other, and that feeling of mutual support was precious.
Meanwhile, Bruno thought back to his evening with Émilie. He felt they had a special connection, and he couldn't wait to see where it would take them. Émilie, for her part, felt safe and respected in Bruno's presence, which reinforced her desire to spend more time with him.
The links were formed, the friendships were woven, and the first bursts of passion began to burn. The university promised to be an intense and unforgettable experience for each of them. They were ready to face the challenges, savor moments of happiness and discover each other, day after day
