2.

I dialed Damian’s number.

It rang five times before he finally picked up.

“What is it?”

His voice was completely devoid of emotion.

He had been treating me like this for the past two years.

I used to make excuses for him, but now his indifference cut straight to the bone.

I gripped my phone tightly, swallowing the bitter lump in my throat.

“It’s Valentine’s Day. Did you see the text I sent you?”

A brief silence followed, and then I heard a woman’s playful giggle in the background: “Damian, you’re so bad.”

A bomb seemed to detonate inside my head, and my hand nearly lost its grip on the phone.

“I’m swamped with work! Do you really think I have time to stare at my phone?!”

“Besides, so what if it’s Valentine’s Day? We’ve been together forever. Why do you still care about these pointless holidays?”

He hung up right after saying that.

Staring at the darkened screen, tears spilled over my cheeks, burning my stinging eyes.

So his idea of being busy was being busy proposing to another woman.

We had spent seven years together, focusing on our careers in the early days to establish ourselves before settling down.

It wasn't until our sixth year that I finally asked him if we should get married.

Back then, he rejected the idea without a second thought.

“My career is taking off, and fans love my single bachelor image. Tying the knot now will definitely hurt my momentum.”

“Let’s talk about it later.”

I had believed him.

I genuinely thought he was just being protective of his dreams.

Only now did I realize the truth: he just didn't want to marry me.

How utterly pathetic.

Our entire seven-year history was nothing more than a giant joke.

He used to swear he would love me for the rest of his life without ever wavering.

Now, those vows were shattered, and he had turned into a complete scumbag.

The man who once shone like pure light in my world had rotted away into filth.
