Chapter 1

1

On the day Tristan's condition took a turn for the worse, needing urgent surgery, I did something unthinkable.

I called him a burden in front of everyone. I abandoned him despite his desperate, tearful pleas.

Seven years later, he returned as a world-renowned billionaire. He was back for blood.

To get revenge on the woman who broke his heart, he silenced my mother and sent my father to prison.

He used every connection he had to find me. He wanted to see me crawl and beg for mercy.

Finally, his own parents couldn't take it anymore. They revealed the truth through their tears.

"She died seven years ago... just so she could give you her organs!"

...

The day Tristan Miller returned to the city, he was the center of the world. He was powerful, rich, and cold.

But he didn't care about the cameras. The second he stepped off his private jet, he drove straight to a care home.

That's where my mother was kept. She was the mother of the woman he had spent seven years hating.

"Tristan, let me go! How can you do this to me? Have you forgotten how I cared for you when you were with Dawn?"

"Don't you dare mention her name!" Tristan was still out of breath from rushing over.

He lunged forward and slapped my mother, sending her to the ground. "How does she have the nerve to claim we were ever together?"

"When my illness came back and I was dying, she was the first to run! You want to talk about the past? Look at yourselves. Your family doesn't deserve a shred of mercy!"

Tristan kicked the woman on the floor in a fit of rage. I panicked and tried to shield her, but his heel went right through me.

As I heard my mother's pained groans, it hit me again―I was dead. I had been dead for seven years.

Right now, I was just a ghost who couldn't protect anyone. "Tristan, Dawn didn't leave you! She..."

She gave her heart to you. She chose to die so you could live. My mother couldn't finish the sentence.

I lowered my head and finished it in my heart. But Tristan didn't believe her.

In his mind, I was a selfish gold-digger. Every explanation was just an excuse to him.

"She didn't? Are you kidding me? Dawn called me a burden in front of everyone. She said she'd never marry a man who was broken!"

"I remember every single word! Let me be clear. I'm back for revenge. No one can stop me."

Tristan's eyes burned with a terrifying fire. He was smiling, but it was a smile that made my skin crawl.

He waved his hand, and several bodyguards surrounded my mother. One held a small bottle of clear liquid.

"You and Arthur were good to me once. But it's a shame you raised such a bitch."

"Since you love talking about Dawn so much, I'll give you a reason to stop. I'm going to make sure you never speak her name again."

His eyes turned cold. The guards pinned my mother to the floor and poured the liquid down her throat.

I knelt and screamed, trying everything to save her, but I couldn't even stir the air. "Mom! Tristan, please stop! Leave her alone!"

My screams were silent. When the bottle was empty, my mother had lost her voice, only able to make raw, guttural sounds.

Seeing her like that hurt more than dying. Tristan showed no sympathy, stepping back in disgust.

He had completely forgotten. This was the woman who stayed by his hospital bed for two days without sleep, caring for him.

"Go tell Dawn this. As long as she doesn't come and beg for my forgiveness, I won't stop. She can try to ignore me. But she'll see that I keep my word."

I stood frozen, watching his cold back as he walked away. He had changed. He wasn't the kind boy I loved anymore.
