Chapter 1
My uncle's family, who moved abroad ten years ago, finally returned.
At the New Year's party, they were flaunting their supposed success as if they owned the world.
My cousin brought along the scumbag who had spread disgusting lies about my private life in college just to mock me.
"Quinn, Zack is the Head of Product at Lumina Tech. If you beg him, maybe you won't have to sell your soul for money anymore!"
"Head of Product?"
I calmly pulled out my phone and made a call.
"As of today, he's unemployed."

On New Year's Eve, my parents and I arrived at the Grand Ivory Hotel for the family gala.
The event was organized by my Uncle Frank.
Frank had always been my grandmother's favorite child. She pampered him his whole life.
Years ago, when there was a craze for moving abroad, he insisted on leaving.
To fund his trip, my grandmother secretly sold the house my parents and I lived in. She left us homeless just to send Frank to America.
Ten years had passed, and Frank's family was finally back.
The moment they landed, they couldn't wait to invite all the relatives to show off their wealth.
Our family was invited too, though I didn't want to go.
We had basically cut ties with the Miller family after Grandma stole our home.
But my father was getting older and started missing his relatives. He decided to attend.
He hoped that if Frank and Grandma apologized, he could finally forgive them.
When we reached the hotel entrance, Frank was already there with Grandma and a group of relatives.
"Arthur, why are you so late? Making your mother wait for you is completely disrespectful!"
I checked my watch. We were perfectly on time.
"Frank, don't be too hard on them. They probably just got off their shift at the warehouse. You have to understand these blue-collar workers; they always work late."
"There aren't even bus stops near a luxury hotel like this. They probably had to walk a long way. It must have been exhausting!"
"Hmph! If you didn't have a car, you should have said something. My cousin offered us a limo, but your family acted so proud and declined. Now you're late. Talk about acting rich while being broke!"
We came with a desire for reconciliation, but these so-called relatives immediately drenched us in cold water.
