Chapter 3

As soon as I finished, Frank's expression turned ugly.

Before coming to this party, I had already looked into him.

They were just average laborers in the States. Six hundred thousand dollars was probably his entire life savings. Asking for it was like asking for his kidney.

"You little brat! In your dreams! I won't give you a single penny of my son's money!"

Grandma was fuming, screaming at me while the other relatives joined in.

"Exactly! We're all family. Why be so calculating?"

"Quinn, why are you so short-sighted? Your uncle could easily find you a job abroad that pays way more than that six hundred thousand. Why stay bitter?"

"Your grandmother is your father's mother. A son's house belongs to his mother. She had every right to sell it. Your dad isn't even complaining, so why are you?"

I looked at these relatives who found it so easy to be generous with someone else's property.

The whip wasn't hitting them, so they didn't feel the sting.

"Since you all feel that way, and since we're all family, I assume you wouldn't mind helping my uncle pay us back?"

The relatives immediately changed their tune.

"Well, a debt should be paid by the one who owes it. Besides, Frank is a big boss. Six hundred thousand should be nothing to him."

"Right! Frank, just give them the money. Treat it like giving a few bucks to a beggar!"

These relatives were only here to leech off Frank.

There was no way they were parting with their own cash to help him.

"So, Uncle? Will it be a wire transfer or a check? A big boss like you wouldn't try to dodge a debt, right?"

I added playfully.

"We still have the original purchase contract and the records of Grandma's illegal sale. If this goes to court, you might find it very difficult to leave the country again, Uncle."
