Chapter 1

On the eve of our wedding, I suffered sudden massive hemorrhaging on the street due to an unviable ectopic pregnancy.

I called Landon, but he snapped impatiently, "Savannah, stop using these cheap tricks to manipulate me into coming home. I'm busy."

Later, my womb was removed to save my life, and he still did not show up.

Instead, he posted a photo on his feed showing him lighting prayer candles at a cathedral with his young assistant.

When I woke up in the hospital, the doctor delivered the devastating news. It had been a severe ectopic pregnancy, and they had to perform an emergency hysterectomy to save my life.

My entire body went numb with shock.

With trembling hands, I grabbed my phone to call Landon.

Before I could dial, his assistant sent me a screenshot of his private social media post.

【Praying for Kinsley to have a lifetime of peace and happiness.】

In the picture, Landon and Kinsley knelt devoutly before the altar, side by side.

The timestamp showed it was posted just minutes after I had called him begging for help.

While I was bleeding out on the pavement, he was by another woman's side.

While I hovered on the brink of death, he was praying for that woman's lifelong happiness.

What did that make me?

What did seven years of devotion as his fiancée even mean?

I checked his profile and realized he had specifically hidden that post from me.

He was cheating on me.

Tears splattered against the glowing screen as violent shivers ran down my spine.

I initiated a video call.

It rang for what felt like an eternity before he switched it to a voice call and picked up.

"Savannah, I already told you I'm busy. Can you pick a better time to throw a tantrum?"

A lump formed in my throat, choking back a wave of crushing despair.

Earlier that morning, I had gone to drop off lunch for him at his studio, but the front desk told me he was not there.

On my way back with the takeout, I collapsed on the sidewalk in a pool of blood.

I called him, crying that I was bleeding heavily and begged him to save me.

Yet all he said was, "Savannah, stop using these cheap tricks to manipulate me into coming home. I'm busy."

Then he hung up on me.

How ridiculous. When I was dying, his first instinct was to assume I was lying.

Years ago, he had promised that if anything ever happened, I had to call him first.

He had sworn he would drop everything and race to my side.

It was all a lie.
