Chapter 3

3.

Another gloating text from Kinsley popped up on my screen.

【Landon told me my body is perfection.】

Attached was a photo of Landon with his eyes closed, his arm wrapped tightly around her bare shoulders on a king-sized hotel bed.

I sat all alone in the sterile, quiet hospital room.

Meanwhile, Landon was getting tangled in sheets with his little assistant.

We had been together for seven years.

I was three years older than him.

When he first graduated from acting school, he had no connections, no money, and no backing.

I saw potential in his raw talent and good looks, so I signed him to my talent agency.

Back then, he was sweet and attentive, constantly hovering around me.

He used to say, "Savannah, thank you for believing in me. Without you, I'd never make it in Hollywood."

"Can you hook me up with some auditions? I promise I'll work harder than anyone."

Later, once he hit the A-list, his tone changed.

"Savannah, be my girlfriend. I promise I'll cherish you for the rest of my life."

When he had nothing, I built his career from scratch.

Now that he was bathing in fame and fortune, he threw away the person who made him.

Landon's parents suddenly rushed into the room.

They were dressed in designer clothes―luxuries bought with the money Landon made after getting famous.

Yet they knew better than anyone that Landon owed every ounce of his success to me.

Without me, he would still be a broke nobody waiting tables.

"Savannah, darling…"

His mother hurried over, clasping my cold hand with tearful eyes.

"We just heard what happened. I'm so sorry we're late."

His parents had always treated me with genuine kindness.

I was not going to take out my fury at Landon on them.

"It's not your fault, Mrs. Ross."

"The doctor told us they had to remove your womb…"

Tears spilled down her cheeks.

As a woman, she understood the devastating weight of that loss. Without a womb, a part of my identity felt hollowed out.

"Yes. It's completely gone."

"If they hadn't removed it, I wouldn't have survived the bleeding."

"Where is Landon?" his father asked grimly.

I showed them the screenshots Kinsley had sent me.

Landon's mother swayed, nearly fainting from rage.

"That ungrateful bastard!"

She immediately dialed Landon's number.

When the call connected, Kinsley's soft giggles echoed in the background alongside Landon's cheerful voice.

"Mom? What's up?"

"What's up? How dare you ask me that! Your fiancée almost died on an operating table, and where the hell are you?"

The other end fell silent for a few beats before he answered, "Mom, did Savannah run to you crying?"

"Don't listen to her drama. She loves blowing things out of proportion just to turn everyone against me."

"You piece of trash!"

Landon's father snatched the phone, his voice shaking with fury.

"Do you have any idea what you're saying?"

Landon snapped back defensively. "Fine! I'm not arguing about this over the phone. I'll explain everything when I get back."

He hung up abruptly.

Mrs. Ross looked at me with deep remorse.

"I'm so sorry, Savannah. We failed to raise him right."

My heart had already turned to ash.

Seven years was a long time, but I was never the type of woman to let toxic love ruin my life.

Since Landon's heart had strayed, I would walk away cleanly.

"Mr. and Mrs. Ross, I'm calling off the engagement."

That's everything available right now.
