Chapter 3

The day our parents died, I had begged them to take me to the coast.

A sudden rip current swept them out to sea, and their bodies were never recovered.

From that day on, Keira hated me with every fiber of her being.

"Hey, Keira, if I remember correctly, your younger brother is named Kian Adler, right?" Willa asked suddenly, looking at the donor log.

"Why does this deceased donor share the exact same name?"

Willa pulled the clipboard off the cooler door and stared at Keira with suspicion.

Keira's hand froze right on the handle of the cold storage drawer.

A few seconds later, she let out a dismissive scoff.

"Kian Adler is a dime a dozen," Keira sneered.

"Besides, he literally called my phone half an hour ago. There's no way in hell the body in here belongs to him."

*Keira, it really is me!*

*Did you already forget? That final call was me begging you to save my life!*

A few days earlier, I had woken up in a dirty back alley, only to realize my entire world had gone completely black.

Panic-stricken, I fumbled for my phone and dialed my sister.

The phone rang several times before she finally picked up.

"What do you want now?" Keira's voice sounded as irritated as ever.

"Keira, I suddenly can't see anything. I'm scared, what should I do?"

"Kian Adler!" she roared through the line.

"You've been out on your own for months, and you still can't come up with a better lie to get my attention? I don't have time for your drama today!"

Ever since she threw me out, she had refused to see me or take my calls.

I had to pretend to be sick just to hear her voice for a few seconds.

"Keira, I swear I'm not lying..."

"Stop calling me your sister! We are done. Whether you go blind or die has nothing to do with me!"

"Today is the day Weston gets his cornea transplant. Don't you dare ruin it!"

With that, she hung up.

Cornea transplant? Weston found a matching donor?

Then what happened to my eyes...?
