Chapter 3

3.

Breaking up with Cole had officially failed.

The second I brought it up, he had a complete emotional breakdown.

He cried so hard and looked so pitiful that I almost felt bad for him.

So, I braced myself, went home, and launched Plan B―demanding a divorce from Graham Brooks.

Graham was sitting on the leather sofa, reviewing financial charts on his tablet. The cool blue glow reflected on his expressionless face.

【Come on, Host! If you can wrap up even one storyline, it counts as a win!】

The system urged me in my head, giving me a massive headache.

I took a deep breath, channeled every ounce of acting skill I had, and wore a look of agonizing guilt.

"Graham, I cheated on you."

His expression didn't shift at all, but the temperature in the room dropped several degrees.

He gave a slight nod and pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up his nose.

"I know."

A giant question mark popped over my head.

Well, at least this saved me the trouble of explaining.

I continued my heartbreaking performance: "So… let's get a divorce."

【Yes, yes, exactly like that! Once he agrees, he'll go to a bar to drown his sorrows and have a fateful one-night stand with the female lead!】

The system buzzed with excitement. We were both eagerly awaiting Graham's agreement.

Graham looked up, his voice dangerously calm, concealing a trace of cold fury.

"And? Your cheating is between you and him. Break up with him. What does that have to do with me? Why are you dragging me into your mess?"

Me: "…"

What the actual fuck…

"But… I don't love you anymore," I tried again, attempting to awaken his male-lead pride.

He cut me off impatiently.

"That's your problem. Handle it yourself."

Me: "?"

Are you two using me as a damn volleyball?!

The room fell dead silent until hesitant footsteps approached from the foyer.

The butler stood there holding a phone with a lit screen, glancing nervously between Graham and me.

He spoke awkwardly: "Sir, it's Miss Evans on the line. She's asking if you have time to meet her tomorrow."

Clatter―

A crystal glass slipped from Graham's hand and hit the hardwood floor.

It didn't shatter, but rolled slowly until it stopped right by my feet.

This was the first time I had ever seen Graham lose his composure. His face softened, and his cold eyes turned completely tender.

"Yes, I do," Graham answered.

His voice carried the breathless wonder of reclaiming a lost treasure.

I bent down to pick up the cool glass, placing it gently on the coffee table.

"This is better for both of us, isn't it?" I whispered.

Graham looked up at me coldly.

"Don't get ahead of yourself. You are the only Mrs. Brooks."

Me: "Wait, what?"

That's everything available right now.
