Chapter 1

I fell while pregnant, and my husband rushed me to the hospital.

But he missed a call from his childhood sweetheart.

Her mother suffered a heart attack and died because she wasn't rescued in time.

On the day of the funeral, the sweetheart took her own life by drinking poison.

Consumed by guilt and regret, my husband blamed everything on me.

At our son's hundred-day party, he forced six bottles of toxins down my throat.

His eyes were filled with nothing but pure hatred.

"If it weren't for you, her mother wouldn't have died, and she wouldn't have followed!"

"This child's birth was a mistake!"

I watched helplessly as he threw our son to the ground, killing him, before I died in agony.

I opened my eyes, and I had been reborn.

This time, my husband ran to his sweetheart without looking back.

He thought he had made the right choice.

Later, however, he would beg me with bloodshot eyes not to terminate the pregnancy.

Agonizing pain radiated from my lower body, and I gripped my stomach tightly.

On the other end of the phone, Cillian Rhodes's angry voice barked:

"Stop faking it! The doctor said your pregnancy is stable. There's no way you're suddenly hemorrhaging!"

I collapsed to the floor, watching the bright red blood soak through my white dress.

Outside the window, a bolt of lightning flashed.

I snapped awake.

Checking the time, I realized it was April, the season of spring storms.

I had been reborn.

I was back on the day I accidentally fell and started bleeding.

Over the phone, the panicked, delicate sobbing of Cillian's sweetheart, Daisy Wilder, rang out.

"Cillian, you're finally here. What should I do..."

My face was pale as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Where are your car keys? I'll drive myself to the hospital."

Cillian immediately shouted at me, "Elara Thorne, there's a limit to how much you can resent Daisy! A life is on the line right now. Can you stop being so unreasonable?"

"I'm not lying to you―" I spoke calmly, my voice so raspy it was barely audible.

He responded with nothing but mockery.

"Give it a rest! If you're really bleeding that much, I'll cut off my head and let you kick it like a ball."

"I won't be fooled again."

He hung up the phone.

At that moment, thunder lit up the dark room.

As the screen went black, I saw my own ghost-white face in the reflection.

It turned out I wasn't the only one reborn. Cillian was, too.

He believed that this time, he was making the right choice.
