Chapter 2
Finnley got out of bed taking note of Luna who was awake but still in bed with her novel in her hand, he knew not to over-question her, instead, he kissed her on the lips and muttered "I'm sorry", before going to make breakfast for them. He had overworked her again because of his main urges knowing fully well she was with their third child a surprise they were yet to tell anyone, he smiled knowing she was carrying what was his yet again, more monkeys to add to the family he thought dancing to no music. The sun rays that managed to escape into the kitchen rested on his face giving him a glowing look as he saw Luna coming to sit in the dining her eyes resting on him and a smile on her face which made him shy and self-conscious. Talk about the things his woman has turned him into "I'm making pancakes," he called out to the children, who were still fast asleep upstairs. "Your favorite!" Jack ran out as he sat for breakfast his hair rough, and shoes worn wrongly. He heard a muffled groan from Lily's room. "Can we have jam?" "Of course," Finnley replied. "And bacon." He served Jack and his wife then his daughter who came out after some while neatly dressed. "Jack", she whined taking note of the way he looked, she turned to look at her dad and pointed at her brother, "he is going to make me miss the bus" He took the comb from the table and helped Jack with his hair while correcting his shoes, "better?", he shook his head before taking his sit and feasting on his meal. He thought about the promise he had made to Luna the night before. They had planned to take the children to the cinema that evening to see the new superhero movie. Finnley was looking forward to it, especially since Lily had been begging to go for weeks. Finnley helped his wife with her things to her café before going to work, thanks to Kai he was able to get there in time, he remembered he was to meet with his son's teacher and he vowed to be there when it was his break time. He felt at ease when he saw the multimillionaire whose blood was making his son's school life less fun, he was about to walk up to the man and question him when his college stopped him. "What do you think you are doing?", he was asked. He clicked his tongue in annoyance trying to find his way past his buddy and go back to question the man and tell him to warn his blood, it seemed fruitless as for some strange reason his buddy seemed to overpower him. "His niece is giving my son hell, I want to let him stop it since the school seems to favor him". His buddy looks at him with concern and sighs, "You need to be sure of your actions and what you want to do before you just jump in and act, just to avoid unnecessary actions". With that, he made way for him to pass. "I know of my actions and wo..." his phone rang, and he picked it up since it was from his son's class teacher, after receiving the message he rushed to get a bus after asking his buddy to cover for him. On getting to the principal's office he saw his son and the man's niece both seated quietly with wounds on their face as he was about to check on his son, he was called in. As he entered he saw Jack and frowned at the obvious outcome, he had been in this type of situation before and it made his face turn sour. "Good morning, sirs", the principal greeted looking at Jack. He got a dry reply from them both. "Mr. Redmond your son hurt his niece here, they were all playing when he suddenly became violent and harmed a classmate". Finnley took everything in him and his wife's gentle smile to calm down, his eyes turned cold, and he laughed, "My son is violent?" The principal nodded confused as to why he was laughing. "But once my son was the one receiving the harm he was not violent, when the teachers and so-called adults ignored his pain he was not violent, no he is the violent one. You all need to rethink your steps". "Sir I understand that you may be annoyed or not want to accept the fact that he was the one that caused all this but there is evidence that your son was the one that attacked first". Finnley rested his back and gave Jack a daring look, "I will teach him to do it again anytime your niece tries to raise his hand again and harm my son". "Where are the proof that my niece did it?", Jack asked. "Proof?", he sighed as he felt the sharp pain again, "you all are disgusting to me" "Sir the school has decided to suspend your son for two weeks for him to rethink his actions and work on his violent ways. "What of him?" "He is the victim here sir, and it is final that..." He was interrupted by the door opening, when the principal sighted the person by the door he immediately stood and bowed slightly in respect while offering him a seat. "What brings you here sir?" "I came here for my friend's son, but I can see that he is here" "Your friends' son?" the principal repeated looking at Finnley who was glaring knives at his friend Kai? The principal sat in haste, "I did not know you were friends with Mr. Redmond. "And how does that affect the judgment?", Kai asked "He does not sir", the principal quickly replied, "It seems like I've made some mistake, Rowan will be the one to be on suspension since he was the one that caused all this, nut sir for today and tomorrow keep your son home to recover from the shock and rest". Mr. Jack was surprised at the sudden turn of events and even more surprised that the big firm he had been trying to get to be a partner was friends with this good-for-nothing man. They all left the school and when they got to the car Finnley asked him a lot of questions. "You are welcome", Kai replied. He dropped Jack off at his wife's café and explained how things turned out as she thanked Kai for the help and hit her husband for complaining before sending him off to work. After work Finnley happily bought movie tickets for his family after standing in line for a long time, he also bought some snacks and sweets for his family a huge smile on his face as he was going home. The street was quiet as he took note of the time that he was late thanks to wanting to get the ticket, he ignored the pain he felt and was contented with putting a smile on their face. Reaching his house, he saw all the lights on, but no one spoke, it was silent except he was hearing some faint sounds from upstairs. He entered inside and realized everything was Wrong and it brought horror to his face, his world stopped, and his breathing became ridged. He looked at his surrounding that was already a mess, going to the dining after seeing blood flow out from under the table he fell to the floor watching his son's body become lifeless, tears found their way to his eyes as he lifted his son on to his body trying to pick any breathing or pulse but he was gone, hearing a loud screaming from upstairs he rushed there just for his daughter's body to roll to his feet and her mouth dripping blood till life ran out of her, hearing his wife's struggle that broken him beyond pieces and he took the bat beside him as he used it to hit the man that cut his daughter dead, breaking his head in the process and pushing his dead lifeless body down the stairs. Finnley fought like a madman, but it was futile. The men were relentless, their attacks merciless. Finally, a knife stabs him in the chest, sending him crashing to the floor. As he lay dying, trying to find his footing he watched in horror as the men turned their attention to Luna. They tore her clothes and devoured her like hungry dogs on a piece of meat before their leader cut her head and threw it at his feet, Finnley struggled, he struggled in ears her body breaking, his hand trying to pick up life. He wanted to fight, stand, and let them understand the dying feeling he felt instead all he could do was watch as the blood drained out of her, her eyes in terror as it watched him. As the men left the house, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a man he had never seen before, his face. Obscured by a hood. His eyes were filled with a cold, calculating intensity. Those eyes, green yet dead watching him with pain. "Your suffering is not over yet," the man said. "You will pay for your sins." With those words, the man disappeared into the night, leaving Finnley alone with his grief, distress, and pain. As he lay dying with his moments alive remembering every single way they died he could not even save any of them, even his innocent unborn child.
