Chapter 3
"When will the order do something about all this?" He a medium height, handsome black and white hair with blue eyes, his fair skin glowing, his pink lips pumping, and had the perfect gift for a devilish smirk...Kai. Kai sat but the stairs and watched his friend's body for a while, lifeless as tears dripped on his clothes, he watched the lady who was backing his family's body eyes and wondered if she understood the pain he felt. He went near and removed the chain on his neck then placed it in his pocket. "They seem to take this as a simple case". He stood and went towards the window, "is it not to them? Who started all these games? Probably one of them is bored to his wit, now he needs someone or something to get him in the mood" She laughed and threw a toy at him, "something you can't say to their face" "Why will I, he still needs my help. One that won't cut time and space" "You still think there is one? Don't give yourself a headache" "It is worth it", shaking his head, "Leila, you can't understand. You are still a little un'" A frown found itself on her face and she clicked her tongue grumbling in annoyance, "I'm no little kiddo, I know the drill" He chucked, "You do", his eyes finding their way to the window. "Yes, I know as much that this is your friend right here, he keeps coming back, The Temporal Orders are trying to get him to stop, and the Kyreosis Oak are trying to get him to use him and know how he does it, but then there is this little glitch of fate that holds him down and makes his life cut short". Kai ruffed her hair, "You will understand one day, for now. You are just a mere assistant, and you are to know only what you need to know for your safety". "I don't need you thinking I'm a little girl". The place grew silent as they left upon hearing distant sirens and voices, Kai kept picturing the screams and cries, he mentally hit himself for not being there, for having to do something at that moment when he knew they were battling with fate here and then the orders where connected to it, there was no way it was going to be a free pass out of this one, one thing he knew is that it was going to be hard to get a hint on how to stop it all, how to bring an end to the pain in his heart. "Death", she said as they sat on a tree branch and looked at the city. He looked at her and sighed "the fucker that invites faces". He heard the leaves shake behind them, but before he could tell Leila to lay low, she had hit the ground and was wailing in. Pain, he looked back to see three sets of knives flying toward his side targeting his neck, head, and heart. He was able to dodge it and saw the KO sign on it, immediately his face had a cold dead look and he sighed in disgust while taking out his gun from the side of his pocket and shooting two bullets straight at where the attack came from and some meters away, he heard a body fall to the ground and a lazy bullet headed for his leg grazing it in the process. "Leila", he shouted while climbing down the tree. He saw her resting on the tree with her hands by her side and sweat dripping from her head, he knew immediately she was poisoned, and it made him curse out loud while dragging the knife out of her making her scream in agony and hold onto his hand tightly. "I don't want to die", she said faintly as her hands slipped off his because of the weakness she felt and the poison working in her. A sudden sharp pain made its way to his back and he fisted to hold it in as he left and hid in the bush his eyes looking at Leila's body as the enemies brutalized her to make sure she was dead. They took her life span and looked around for him, he had activated stealth mode though it was only within time he would lose blood. The world had gone quiet. The screams, the gunshots, the chaos - all had faded into a distant memory. Kai lay huddled Beside her body his hand took off her tags and closed her eyes, his body trembling uncontrollably. He could still feel the sting of the bullet that had hit his back, a constant reminder of the horror he had just endured. As the sun began to rise, casting long, eerie shadows around his side, Kai slowly emerged from his comfort zone bent slightly to the front and a bloody Leila in his arm. He looked into the far distance and realized that more people had gathered around the house, they were probably shocked to know why the house was a mess, but nobody was inside even though it showed bloody signs of struggle, a testament to the violence that had consumed it. He could see the lifeless bodies of Finnley, Luna, and her kids, their faces frozen in a grotesque tableau of death. A sob escaped his lips as he took each step deeper into the trees, his memory played Leila's once vibrant eyes now dull and lifeless. Deep in the trees, he dropped her and made a hole as he fell to the ground. He knelt beside her, stroking her cold bloodily hand. "Leila," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "Please wake up." There was no response. A wave of despair washed over him. He was alone. He had no one left. Everyone was living with him, and now he was left alone, this was a fate that had never occurred, and he wondered if he was just making things worse but getting himself involved and Other people, but then he remembered his vow, a vow that made him cry like a child, the animals in the trees giving him a moment of silence to honor those who had gone. As the day wore on, Kai found his way back to the house, after the crowds had died and wandered through the ruined house, trying to make sense of what had happened. He found a small first-aid kit in the bathroom and cleaned and bandaged the wound that he could reach. He also discovered a hidden hole in the house that had some papers in it and a chain, he took it and understood why the house was a mess than this, some people had come looking for the chain in his hand, he then remembered the look on his friends face when he had entered earlier in the morning, and it made him gag in irritation. With a heavy heart, Kai knew he had to leave. He couldn't stay in a place that held such terrible memories for long. He packed a small bag with hard memories as he walked out through the back door, careful to avoid the shattered windows. As he walked down the street, he glanced back at his safe comfort zone and a tear rolled down his eyes. Kai walked through his house gates and showed everyone a hateful glare. His eyes were red as blood, each step shook the ground around him, and his maid knew to hide. "Mai!", he shouted, and it took him less than 10 seconds to reach his front, but instead of standing in an upright position, he was flying through the front door, and a figure. Burning in dark aura rushed at him hitting him continuously as he found no opening to attack or defend. "Why?" That was the only word Kai let out of his mouth for 10 minutes straight before he stopped and sat by the bar chair and as for the strongest, they had. After taking it, he took his keys and went into his car while racing downtown. Seven great huge stones came into his view, and he parked without bearing while walking through the palace doors, the guards tried to stop him, but he was stronger and was deaf to their pled. Without wasting time, he was already in the high room looking at everyone present, and rushed to the one that backed him, hitting him furiously till his fist bled. "Why would you attack one of us?", he asked pushing him on the floor and sitting on his seat. "We agreed not to touch him or his family, his eyes looking straight into the leader of the table's eyes. The man sat on the floor still trying to regain his energy, "I was only trying to get the host of their spirits since it is something important to the house" Kai frowned and took everything in him not to hit the man's head till it was not fixable, "when did the 5th have right over the host?" "I am trying to take precautions since you are a close friend and it has been said to take close caution with the host, we are all aware of what is going on and I was trying to take caution" "You had to take it by force?" "When did I do so?", the man asked his eyes looking at the 3rd and he frowned with the look of a betrayer when he was ignored. He knew where his fate ended at. Andrew-de-XII smiled and had this excitement in his eyes, he held his gaze with him and chuckled softly which made the glasses present scatter to pieces. Every special assistant took cover by leaving the room and closing the doors behind them though that left marks on their palm. "Speak", is the only voice that can quiet a whole nation and call thousands of armies to order. The one wounded on the floor stood still with his hands behind his back and his head bowed slightly, he then cleared his throat. "He was a threat to us, someone close to our host cannot be trusted safely with the spirits of the one gone". Kai laughed and stood up about to hit him, but a force kept him seated. He struggled to stand but was kept seated which made him give up and let the house be the judge of the matter. "Continue" The man was shaking, "I sent my men to retrieve his soul since not everyone can handle it and not be enticed by it" He stood and walked to the man's front, "were you given an order by the house?" The man could not voice out, so he stood in silence looking at the ground as he was forced to bite himself and wondered what his fate was. Fear stood beside him, his heart beat painfully against his ribs, and his fingers bled from how deep he was peeling them. "Why did you barge in here when you are aware the house is having a private meeting". Kai rolled his eyes and cursed, "he killed my right-hand man" Andrew-de-XII smiled, he then gave an order to take the man to the dungeon while Kai was sent up into his office to wait for him as he rounded up the meeting. "Call the physicians to take care of you, you look like a mess. Ask them to pull the bullet out of your back and treat the poison in you". Kai had no choice but to do as he was told, he sat in silence as she treated him, her gentle finger carefully cleaning him up, he breathed in the air around him and smelt lilac, something he wished never calmed him. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?" He snorted, "How will my death be of any effect to you?" He whined in pain as she made her treatment painful, he looked into her eyes and saw the pain in them, he felt a sudden wave. Of anger and disgust. The same woman that denied him and went for someone else is the same one giving him the look. "Don't give me that look" "Which look?", she asked. "You know very well what I'm talking about, and it is disgusting". She was about to reply to him when Andrew-de-XII walked in making her rush out. Kai took notice of the change in the atmosphere, and he stood still waiting for him to be seated and given permission to sit also. "You are aware he was our enemy?" It didn't sit well with him, having to hear this topic repeatedly, it was like he was a little kid they were trying to brainwash into thinking a lot of things. Truth be told he did not know what the truth was, he wished he knew and had tried many times to know what happened, what transpired that caused it, but then there was the wall and Temporal Orders who were so fixed on keeping his life a secret. It made his case after becoming a full-fledged house body, but still, time gave no heed. They were blooded to their duty's soul and mind. "Yes sir, I am. That's why I safeguarded his soul with care and brought it back to the house in one piece even though it cost me the life of my most trusted one". "Here you have right-hand men and women, people will pass you. You want to grow and lead, you need to learn how to let go and not let your feelings lead you" "But...some of them are trustworthy, just like Leila. An old mentor and leader once taught me not to let my men down or think they were just weapons. He told me they are humans and need to be treated as one". Andrew-de-XII frowned and shook his head and disapproved, "One day you will understand the depth of all I've been telling you. You will then realize the world is not like you picture it to be". Kai ushered himself out, and while returning to his car he met the physician who was there by his door, and I made him click his tongue in distaste. Nearing her he gave her no heed and was about to open the door when she fell on her knees and held his clothes, he was about to give her the cold shoulder but even if she was married, she was once someone he loved dearly and each time, he tries to lock her deep and far, the locks keep becoming weak. "I need your help", she uttered before he could speak. He wondered what help would make her fall to her knees and ask for his help like that, in public not minding that those below her would see it as an opportunity to ridicule her. "For?" "My kid needs blood, and my husband cannot afford to pay the money for his blood donation. I know this is wicked of me to ask, but can you please help? He is dying, every day in pain", she began to cry, and emotions washed over her, making her lose her grip and fall to the ground, before he could help her up she was on her knees, face bowed and her wails suppressed, "please I beg you", she managed to let out. Kai looked up at the stones then his eyes found their way to a lone star up and far, he looked at it and smiled, "You know, no matter how I say to hate you, there is this thing that keeps me connected. You may never tell me the reason you did what you did till you die, I'm not going to question you for it." "I did it because...", she looked determined and sincere, but he cut her off and helped her up. He gave her back her bracelet that came off, "I don't want to know like this. Until you sincerely want to tell me, that's when I will listen calmly to what you have to say. But you telling me now, it is just like I forced it out of your mouth, and I don't want something like that. so please avoid telling me what happened" "But" "No buts, it's okay...I will get back to you", he watched her leave and heard clapping from inside his car, he bent over and looked in, upon seeing who it was he entered and began to drive. "Should I call you a cheap stake Santa? Because Santa does not Give gifts to naught kids". He pressed the brake suddenly making the one seated with his leg on the dashboard slide forward and fall to the floor making it hard for him to move and balance himself well, what even made it worse was the fact he was made to pierce each effect of Kai intentionally driving dangerous. "Hey, are you trying to get us killed" Kai shrugged, "I don't remember the car papers have Kai and Saxon?" "Still, drive carefully for your sake" "Be quiet for your sake". Saxon became silent after he balanced himself well, he looked at Kai who was focused on the road and had a lot to think about, he saw the stress lines on his forehead and he sighed. "Don't kill yourself for others". Kai gave him a brief look, "kill? Myself?" "Yes, no one will remember for long except if they are forced to do so" "I'm not" "You are su..." A call came in and Kai answered it, after the call ended, he parked the car and hit the steering for some while before turning to return to where he was coming from. "What's wrong with the strings?", he thought out loud.
