Chapter 2 A Date With A Gift.

“What can I get for you, sir?’’ Asked a waiter as he approached where Clinton was sitting. He had with him a booklet that contains the menu of foods offered in the restaurant. Clinton stared at him. He was not ready to make any choice not until Linda arrived, but since Linda is nowhere close, he opted for a drink. “Get me two bottles of champagne.’’ “Okay sir, consider that done,’’ the waiter inscribes some words on the paper he was holding. “Is that all sir or do you need any other thing?’’ Clinton smiled, “this is good for now.’’ The waiter returned the smile and walked away only to reappear in a few minutes with a tray containing two bottles of champagne, according to the brand Clinton had requested. “There you go sir,’’ he served Clinton and left. Seconds passed, followed by several minutes before, a feminine figure walked in. The restaurant was booming with life when Linda arrived. Customers were all over the place. She wore a pink gown with enough designs that can make any man turn around just to steal a look from her. Clinton saw a different Linda. For him, this was not his known-personal assistant. She was simply a lady who went out tonight for a date. “Hey, Linda! Over here!’’ Clinton waved his hands when he saw her. It seemed like Linda was a bit lost as she tactically searched for Clinton. “Oh, there you are!’’ She walked closer to where Clinton was sitting. “Please have a seat,’’ he glanced at her momentarily. “Wow! Your dressing outfit is a rare gem, honey.” Linda pretended to be shy a bit. “Oh my god! Really? Well thank you,’’ she eased a smile as she thanked. “I hope you didn’t have a hard time locating here?’’   “Hmm, not at all but the traffic was slightly frustrating,’’ she touched her hair briefly before moving them backward. Clinton couldn’t help but gazed and admired her beauty that evening. Since they were sitting in the opposite direction to each other, it was easy for Clinton to initiate body contact. He stretched his right hand slowly through the table until Linda’s left hand, linked up with his. She willingly accepted him and soon their hands were folded. Linda found it strange she was having some slight romantic moments with her boss. She felt uncomfortable given the fact that Clinton was a married man. Nevertheless, she pretended to be relaxed and assumed they were only having, and that everything ends as soon as possible. “Would you mind drinking with me, Linda?’’ Linda nodded, “yes, but don’t you think your drink is too strong for a delicate woman like me?’’ “Oh no! I don’t think so but if you insist, you can go on and have something less strong,’’ he teased. Clinton gave a sign to the waiter. He quickly approached their table. He handed them the menu slip. Linda went through them and made the selection of what she wanted. The waiter ticked her selection all and turned to take his others from Clinton again. “What are your orders, sir?’’ The waiter asked. Clinton eased a smile, “you know what? I will have anything she ordered too, except drinks. I need more champagnes.’’  The waiter left and in a few minutes, he was back with all they had requested. They saw two couples who were in their sixties holding hands and dancing to the nice Cuban music being played by a music band on the stage. They talked about so many things about the couple including their dance performance. He argued that his old late grandfather and grandmother can dance better than the couple. For him, the couple was dancing lazily and without much effort. His jokes left Linda cackling happily. Clinton exploited that moment to romance Linda’s hand which he had been holding for a long time now. When the excitement of the moment died down, Clinton took a more practical step about what he had been telling Linda. “Would you mind if we have some dance and show these people the difference between old blood and young blood?’’ “Oh come! Give them some credits. They deserve them,’’ said Linda. “As for the dance, maybe we should leave that for another day.’’ While they ate, Linda, noticed a packaged item in Clinton's corner. She wondered why he brought them for dinner. She thought about asking him but made a swift turn around. After some minutes, Clinton reached down for the item he had kept beside himself. “I want you to have this. I'm sure you will like them," he handed them over to Linda. Surprised, Linda inquired about the items inside. "Oh my God! What are you doing sir? I thought you said we are only having dinner and that's it?" "Yes, actually I said that but, this is also one of the reasons we are out here," he smiled and then continued when he saw the surprised look on Linda's face. "Why don't you check it out, Linda?" "Now?"  "Yes now. There is nothing wrong if you check it out now," replied Clinton. Linda slowly opened up the package and to her surprise, it contained a dress, a pair of high-hills, jewelry, and a makeup kit. The dress was such a beautiful one that Linda thought Clinton must have bought it at a very high cost. The shoes were size 45. Exactly her size, the jewelry, and the make-up kit were the types she had dreamt of possessing. "How did you know 45 is my shoe size? The dress also looks perfect, why are you being so kind to me sir?" Linda asked in amazement. "Well, I use to look at your shoes and the dress you put on while working at the office. I guessed your size and it turned out I was correct." "Thank you very much, sir!" "Oh, it's nothing, my dear." When Linda began arranging them back in place, Clinton called for her attention again. "Linda, I need you to do me a favor," he began, "This dress that I bought actually--- I would want you to wear them together with the high-hills on Saturday night at the party I told you about," he paused for a few seconds before resuming, "not just that Linda, I would like you to pretend you are my lover and that, we have been dating each other for a few weeks now and that we have had sex a few times, at the party." Linda was taken unawares by his statement. 'How can he say that when he has a wife? Is this the reason why he called out here?' Linda, took a sip of her drink and replied, "But, sir you have a wife? How on Earth will she react to such a scene?"   "Oh, there's something I haven't told you about too, we are not together anymore. We are not even staying under the same roof. We are getting divorced." "Why? I'm sorry sir. What happened?" "Would you mind if I don't talk about it here? All I need from you is to accept my request. Do we have a deal, Linda?" Linda was in a position where she couldn't reject his request. However, she had a slight relief when he told her, he had a break-up with his wife. “Deal,” Linda answered reluctantly with a low voice.
