Chapter 3

Chapter 3

I touched my stomach in absolute disbelief.

Landon and I always used protection, except... for that one absurd, messy night.

I would always remember that night.

Landon had drank too much. When he saw me, he pulled me tightly into his arms.

He called my name so tenderly. "Vivian."

Looking at his gentle gaze, I was overjoyed.

I thought I had finally melted his iceberg of a heart. I thought my love had finally been rewarded.

Landon was wild that night, exhausting me completely. When I woke up from my sleep, I found that he wasn't at home.

His phone was on the nightstand, flashing with a few messages.

I took his phone and went downstairs, only to find him drinking sullenly with a few of his friends.

Just as I was about to walk over, I suddenly heard his friend ask him, "Didn't Willow accept your proposal? Why do you still look so unhappy? Can't bear to let Vivian go?"

Landon sneered. "She's a decent bedmate, but she is Willow's sister after all. I'm afraid if she makes a scene, Willow will leave me."

Hearing his words, I froze in place. It felt like a bucket of ice water had been poured over me, making my whole body go cold.

I never expected this.

The man who had been whispering intimately to me a second ago was now so incredibly cold.

I instinctively wanted to run away.

But then I heard his friend ask, "But if you just get married like this, what about Vivian? She loves you so much, won't she lose her mind?"

Landon's eyes were full of coldness as he mocked, "Then let her lose it. I'm tired of sleeping with her after all these years anyway."

"But she can't go crazy. I'm afraid she'll recklessly say nonsense to Willow. So I just told Vivian to go abroad and look after some business for me. Keep her distracted over there with some sweet talk, and it'll be fine."

Under the lights, Landon's features looked sharp and handsome.

When he talked about Willow, his voice was warm.

When he mentioned me, his voice was cold and annoyed.

A world of difference.

Right then, Landon's phone suddenly rang.

The harsh ringtone shattered his thoughts. When he saw me, his expression shifted.

He stood up and walked toward me, his tall figure towering over me, making it hard to breathe.

He reached out his hand. "Give me the phone."

I asked blankly, "Landon, what am I to you?"

We spoke at the same time. Landon didn't answer me. He just snatched the phone from my hand, his eyes softening instantly. "Willow? What's wrong? Don't panic, I'm coming over now."

After saying that, he didn't even look back as he turned to leave.

On his neck, my lipstick mark was still visible.

I called out to him, "Landon, after these seven years, can you really be this heartless?"

Landon stopped in his tracks, but he didn't turn around.

After a moment, he said, "Vivian, stop messing around."

I watched his retreating back, unable to comprehend it.

This was the Landon I had loved for seven years.

I had known him for ten years, and loved him for seven.

His heart was so hard and cold. No matter what I did, I could never warm it.

That's everything available right now.
