Chapter 1

1

I died six months ago during birth complications.

Now, my husband has finally found me. He wants me to end my pregnancy so I can donate bone marrow to his golden girl.

He thinks I am the only match for her.

My mother looked him in the eye and said, "Nancy is gone."

Jace's face twisted with pure disgust.

"I have ignored her for half a year, and now her temper has only grown worse. She is even faking her own death!"

"Tell Nancy this for me."

"Even if she gives birth to that little mistake, I will never look at her again!"

"If she does not show up to donate that marrow within three days, do not blame me for cutting off your medical funds, you old bat!"

He had no idea. After I died, my mother gave up on her cancer treatments.

She only stayed alive this long to see the moment he would kneel before my grave in regret.

......

In the cold, dark underground parking lot, Jace Landon slammed my mother to the ground with a brutal slap.

He looked down at her as she writhed in pain on the concrete. "I said, tell Nancy to get out here."

"Otherwise, I will end you!"

My mother's body was fragile from the cancer.

She trembled, her eyes filled with the despair of someone facing the end.

Jace had ignored me for six months. Now he finally remembered I existed, only because his precious Willow Thorne was dying.

Mother told him over and over, "Nancy is dead."

Jace did not believe it. He dragged her across the garage and began to kick her.

"Evil people do not die so easily. How could that woman be dead?"

"She has gotten better at this after six months. She even knows how to stage a death!"

"Willow is too sick to even get out of bed. I am not in the mood to play games with that bitch! Tell her to come out now!"

Another kick landed on my mother's stomach. She curled up, groaning in agony.

I threw myself in front of her like a madwoman, begging Jace to stop.

But Jace only cursed under his breath. "Nancy! You always loved your mother the most, right? She is like this, so why haven't you crawled out yet!"

My heart felt like it was being shredded. I could only cry tears of shadow.

Because... I was already dead.

I died in that hospital half a year ago.

Jace was a student my father had sponsored through college.

When we were together, everyone said we were a match made in heaven.

My father trusted him so much that he handed over the entire family business.

I never expected that in just a few years, the Vance family would be in his pocket. My father was even driven to jump from a building.

And I, his heavily pregnant wife, died during a difficult labor on a night he rushed off to see his first love.

Now, he was grabbing my mother by her hair and shoving her head into a bucket of water.

His voice was ice-cold. "I did not want to be this cruel. Blame Nancy."

"Willow is in this state because of her. She has to take responsibility!"

My mother was still struggling. "Nancy is really gone. She died giving birth..."

"I almost forgot. That woman is still carrying that little mistake."

"What? You think you can use a kid to control me?"

"Haha, whether it is Nancy or that mistake, I will not spare them a single glance!"

Before ordering his guards to throw my mother out, Jace gave a final warning.

"Make Nancy show up and donate that marrow within three days."

"Otherwise, I will stop paying for your chemo!"

"If Nancy is really that heartless, let her watch you rot and die in pain!"
