Chapter 1

I was the one who stayed with Seraphina Vance when her left leg was amputated.

I was so afraid she would feel like an outcast that I intentionally destroyed my own left leg too.

I thought she would be moved by my sacrifice.

But the moment she stepped out of the shadows, she slept with her driver in the back of a car.

She told him, "I could never truly be with a cripple."

"Caleb, I want to have your baby right now. I want to marry you."

It was sickening and hilarious at the same time.

We had been together for fifteen years, and she always told me she was asexual and wanted to be child-free.

I didn't make a scene this time. I just left quietly.

Later, when Seraphina found out I lost my leg because of her, she went absolutely insane trying to find me.

The gift box in my hand hit the pavement with a heavy thud.

I stared in disbelief at the car parked just a few yards away.

Seraphina was straddling Caleb Ryker.

She licked a bit of frosting off a cupcake and fed it to him with her own lips.

Then she whispered passionately, "Caleb, it's my birthday. Make it special for me."

Caleb grabbed the back of her head and crushed his lips against hers.

The sounds of their intimacy made my head feel like it was going to explode.

But I just stood there. I didn't go over to confront them.

When the kiss finally ended, Seraphina was breathless, her voice turning cold as she spoke.

"Silas Sterling is good to me, I guess."

"But I could never truly be with a cripple."

"Caleb, I want to have your baby right now. I want to marry you."

They moved back into a heated embrace, lost in each other.

I stood there like a voyeur, taking in every agonizing detail.

Seraphina called me a cripple.

She didn't know that my left leg had been crushed by a motorcycle because I chose to let it happen.

I just wanted to be like her so she wouldn't feel alone in her disability.

And now, she was calling me an invalid.

She was planning to have another man's child.

I remembered fifteen years ago when we first started dating.

She asked me, "Silas, I have a very low libido and I never want kids. Can you accept that?"

I believed true love wasn't about the physical act, so I told her I was fine with it.

For fifteen years, I never pushed her for intimacy.

Even our kisses were few and far between.

She would even hide while changing her clothes because she didn't want me to see her body.

Now, she was happily exposing herself to another man.
