Chapter 2 The betrayal

Once I saw Stacey standing beside my mate, it felt as if my whole world was crumbling right in front of me.

Not minding the whole crowd that was there, I allowed the tears that were already forming in my eyes to stream down my cheeks freely. I must admit that I wasn't the only one suffering from the heartbreak, even Ivy my inner wolf was going through the same pain. She couldn't help but groan in pain. Seems like my uncle noticed what was going on and he held my hand tightly without looking at my face. Just as if that wasn't enough, the Alpha announced that it's time for future Alpha to mark his mate before everyone; without thinking twice I forcefully freed my hand from my uncle's grip and started running outside.

I had felt enough pain in only one day, and witnessing my mate marking my best friend was only going to make things worst.

If only I had known that Adrian hated me this much, I wouldn't have loved him at the first place and even though he wanted to find another mate, why must it be Stacey my best friend and the worst part of it was that they knew the negative effects of their actions on me, marking another she-wolf while I was still his mate could possibly kill me or worst, make me loose my wolf. No wonder he didn't budge when I refused to acknowledge the rejection, he knew that refusing to acknowledge wasn't going to stop him from marking my best friend who he had chosen over me.

As these thoughts were running through my mind, I couldn't help but feel used and betrayed; all I wanted to do was run away and go somewhere very far, somewhere no one could ever find me far away from those who used and betrayed me.

Once I got back home, I brought out my luggage and started parking my belongings inside.

I was still arranging my belongings inside my luggage when I heard someone knocking on my door.

Knowing that it was my uncle, I reluctantly walked to the door and opened it and to my greatest surprise it was Stacey, she was standing in front of my door feigning to be sorry.

"What are you doing here you traitor?" I thundered angrily at her.

"Come on Amelia chill, you should at least hear me out, all these is not my fault," she said to me with a calm tone.

I don't know if she have forgotten, as werewolves, we have the ability to detect when someone is lying or saying the truth just by listening to their heartbeat when they are talking, and after listening to hers, I could clearly sense that she was lying.

"You liar," I thundered angrily at her, my eyes boring into hers with an icy glare.

"Oh you listened to my heartbeat right?" She asked me, a wild smile hovering over her face.

"You are right dear, I'm lying; did you think that the Alpha was going to allow the future Alpha to accept an Omega as mate?" She asked me with an ironic tone before shaking her head in disbelief.

All this while all I could do was stare at her in astonishment, literally I was out of words.

"I'm really disappointed in you Amelia, how could you keep your hopes so high at such illusion?" She asked me again while grinning ear to ear.

"Actually yesterday, I was at home resting as usual when the Alpha came to our house, right from my room I could clearly hear their conversation, the Alpha was asking my father to help him in finding a female beta who would become the arranged mate to his son since the moon goddess fated an Omega to his son as mate. My father advised him to accept you but he refused stating that he would never allow his soon to choose an Omega as mate. Seeing that the Alpha had already made up his mind my father accepted to help him but he asked him to come back in three days time and once he left I made known to my father my interest of becoming the future Alpha's arranged mate and without thinking twice he accepted," she said to me while grinning wickedly.

As she was explaining to me how she took Adrian away from me I couldn't withhold the hot tears that was streaming down my cheeks, I just couldn't believe that my best friend whom I considered as my sister could backstab me in such terrible manner without even feeling any bit of remorse.

"Come on Amelia, spare me the crocodile tears; you don't need to worry too much about him, the moon goddess will surely give you a second chance mate or you can take my ex mate Tony whom I rejected before choosing Adrian," she said to me before bursting into a mocking laughter.

As I was watching her laughing manically I couldn't help but get enraged , deep down I could feel Ivy grunting in anger, and at the same time my claws were already protruding out, without thinking twice I dashed towards her forgetting that she was a beta and betas are more stronger than Omegas and also the fact that she has already been marked by the Alpha will make her more stronger.

I was still in mid air when she caught and without putting any effort she crashed me on the wall while maintaining her grips on my neck.

All my efforts to break free proved abortive as she was maintaining her claws on my neck not minding the fact that I was already bleeding from the neck.

She only left me when heard the footsteps or my uncle approaching the room.

"Repeat this again and I'm going to tear you apart," she threatened me before walking out of the room while shoving away my uncle who was making his way to the room.

"Amelia are you okay?" My uncle asked me with a worried tone while holding me in his arms and immediately I nodded weakly.

"Thank goodness, I thought she had done something bad to you," my uncle said to me while helping me up.

As he was still helping me up, I felt an agonizing pain all over my body and immediately I groaned in pain, my claws digging into the hands of my uncle.

I didn't need to think twice before knowing what it was, that was just the beginning of my agony, maybe I should have accepted Adrian's rejection and spare myself of all these pains.

As I was still recovering from the first series of pain, I immediately felt another agonizing pain but this time around, the pain was agonizing till the extent that I passed out in the arms of my uncle.
