Chapter 2 Mistake
The following morning, Gerald Lamont awoke to the sound of running water.
As soon as he sat up in bed, the bathroom door was opened. He absentmindedly looked in the direction of the sound.
The woman had just taken a shower and was wrapped in a bath towel, her wet, wavy hair hung loosely around her waist. There was a small mole right next to her eye, which added to her charm.
Gerald could vaguely remember what happened last night. In a nutshell, he had slept with the woman by the bathroom door.
But for some reason, Gerald felt that the expression in her eyes was somewhat frivolous, different from that of the girl last night. The woman he slept with was obedient and cute.
Noticing Gerald's gaze, Winnie tightened her grip on the bath towel around her body, looking shy and flustered.
"You're awake?" she bit her lower lip and asked timidly. "Last night..."
Gerald pursed his lips coldly. "What's your name?"
"Winnie. Winnie Newell." Winnie lowered her head, pretending to be timid.
"I'll take responsibility for what happened last night. But first, my driver will take you home. We can talk about the details later."
Hearing this from Gerald himself, Winnie felt relieved.
Although she had no idea why the man in this suite was Gerald and not the fat, sleazy director, she felt ecstatic. Gerald Lamont was the richest man in all of Soulas and an eligible bachelor. All the women wanted to be with him, but none were as lucky as Winnie.
She hid her excitement and pretended to nod obediently. "Okay."
After Winnie left, Gerald stood up and was about to take a shower, but something dazzling caught his eye.
He squinted at it curiously.
Lying on the bed was a blue sapphire hexagram ear stud that stood out against the wrinkled white bed sheet.
He walked over, picked it up, and looked at it carefully.
Did it belong to that girl?

Sheila dragged her tired, dirty body back home and wanted to take a shower, but the aggressive butler stopped her.
"I've been looking all over for you, you bitch! Where have you been?" the butler scolded, planting her hands firmly on her hips.
Although Sheila was an adopted daughter, no one in the Newell family household took her seriously. Everyone could beat, scold, and boss her around.
Recalling Winnie's warning, Sheila fell silent.
But her attitude only served to make the butler even angrier. "Where are your glasses? Do you want to be beaten again?"
Although Sheila looked a lot like Winnie, Sheila's eyes were more beautiful and charming. Whenever she smiled, she looked very devastatingly attractive, unlike Winnie, who paled in comparison to her.
Therefore, according to Winnie's rules, Sheila was required to wear black-framed glasses. Anyone who saw her in violation of the rules was allowed to slap her.
Sheila immediately took out the glasses from her bag and put them on. The black frames partially concealed her beauty, rendering her pretty eyes somewhat ordinary.
The butler glared at her and gave her a few more warnings before she finally turned around and left.
After taking a shower, Sheila was preparing lunch when she saw Winnie come home and walk towards the kitchen.
Sheila didn't want any trouble and decided to avoid her, but Winnie blocked her way.
"Sheila, thanks to you, I'm going to marry into a rich family!" Crossing her arms in front of her chest, Winnie looked at Sheila smugly.
Yesterday, she had planned to ask Sheila to sleep with a fat director in her place so that she could land a role in his film. But she didn't expect that Sheila would accidentally sleep with the drunk Gerald Lamont.
Winnie walked up to Sheila and pinched her cheeks condescendingly. "You little bitch, you are so lucky! You spent a night with Gerald, the richest and most powerful man in Soulas!"
Sheila's face turned pale. It turned out that the man who held her in his arms and whispered in her ear last night was...
Gerald Lamont, the richest man in the city and a son of the noble Lamont family.
"In a few days, Gerald will meet with our family to discuss the engagement. If Dad asks you to come, you are not allowed to go. Do you hear me?"
Winnie warned Sheila, her tone turning fierce once again.
"Okay, I won't go." Sheila pushed Winnie's hand away and agreed to her request without a fight. Truth be told, she just didn't want to see that man again.
Sheila was more exhausted than usual today, so she was in no mood to deal with Winnie. "If there's nothing else, I'll go back to my room first. Lunch is ready."
After saying that, she ignored Winnie's sneer and turned to her room.
Just as she was about to climb into bed, Sheila touched her earlobe subconsciously and was stunned for a moment.
One of her earrings was missing!
