Chapter 1

Chapter 1

When Grant Sterling asked for a divorce for the hundredth time because of his little protégé, I didn't refuse.

His hand trembled as he reached for his wedding ring. A cold sneer twisted his face.

"What kind of game are you playing now?"

"I'm warning you, Sienna. If you try to hurt her again, I won't be so forgiving."

I calmly signed the divorce papers and looked him in the eye.

"Relax. I've simply stopped caring about you."

When I said those words and pushed the paper back, the sneer on Grant's face froze.

He had expected another round of crying, screaming, or begging.

He had even prepared a set of cruel insults to throw at me, but my silence caught him off guard.

His fingers instinctively rubbed the wedding ring he had just taken off.

Then, he suddenly squeezed it tight in his palm.

"Stopped caring?"

He let out a sharp, mocking laugh, full of disbelief.

"Sienna Hart, you've said that before. What's the new trick? Playing hard to get?"

He stared at me, searching for a flicker of pretense, just like he always did.

But I only met his gaze with total indifference. I looked at him as if he were a complete stranger.

This lack of emotion made him feel like he was losing control for the first time.

He took a step toward me, his voice rising with a sense of insulted pride.

"I'm warning you, stay away from Rainey! If you harass her like last time, don't expect me to remember our history!"

"Our history?"

I pushed the signed divorce agreement toward him.

"I've already signed. Everything is done."

My voice remained steady, devoid of any feeling.

"I haven't touched your things. Pack them up and have your assistant pick them up. From now on, you and your little protégé have nothing to do with me."

Grant stood there, stunned. He opened his mouth to speak, but only a weak threat came out.

"You'd better remember what you said today!"
