3.

"Zoe Yates, you just ruined Chloe's future, and now you're attacking your own brother."

"You really are beyond saving!"

Xander glared at me with pure disgust.

Looking at him made me feel the original Zoe's lingering resentment. She had tried so hard to earn his affection.

She made him breakfast every day, washed his clothes, and even polished his shoes.

In return, he made her kneel and take beatings whenever something went wrong.

With a loud "bang," I shoved him hard against the door.

"Who do you think you are? Don't you ever speak to me like that again."

"Zoe, how can you be so cruel to Xander?"

Chloe appeared at the door, looking pathetic.

Seeing this fake-sweet snake made my skin crawl. I have no idea how she was the protagonist.

I climbed out of bed and delivered a stinging slap to her face.

"Does an outsider like you even have the right to speak?"

"Clap, clap, clap."

"Now that's a show."

The poison vendor was staring in awe, actually applauding.

I let out a short laugh, ignored them all, and walked out.

I needed to die, and I needed to do it fast.

I headed straight for the hospital roof.

It was twenty stories up―a fall from here would be a guaranteed one-way ticket out.

I closed my eyes and prepared to leap, but a strong pair of arms suddenly yanked me back.

I tumbled to the concrete, and a boy appeared before me.

He had a handsome face and eyes that sparkled with intensity.

"Zoe, don't do this. Don't die."

His voice was trembling with desperation.
