Chapter 1
1
The first thing I did after waking up back in my ten-year-old body was pull out my sister's teeth.
I ground them into a fine powder and mixed them into the milk I served my parents.
In my past life, my sister Amara hid a cheating device in my pocket during an exam, which ruined my future.
When I tried to tell my parents that she framed me, they didn't believe a word I said.
Instead, they tied me up in the attic and beat me until I was bloody.
They even helped the authorities send me to juvenile prison for fraud.
My brother, Caleb, stood there the whole time, laughing and clapping his hands.
On the day I was sentenced to death, they didn't even show up to see me one last time.
Instead, they were hosting a massive press conference to announce Amara as the new heir to the family company.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the very day Amara was adopted into our home.
Amara was the daughter of my father's old friend and was known as a child prodigy in our city.
Unfortunately, her parents died in a car accident, and Amara was reportedly kidnapped before she could be rescued.
My father spent a lot of money and resources to find her.
He felt so sorry for her tragic childhood that he decided to bring her home and treat her as his own.
The moment my mother saw Amara, she burst into tears and pulled her into a tight hug.
"Oh, you poor child, you've suffered so much," she sobbed.
Caleb was standing by her side, wiping away his own tears.
I was the only one watching Amara with cold, distant eyes.
I knew exactly what kind of monster was hiding behind that innocent, sweet face.
My mother told Amara to sit down and rest, but the girl just blushed and spoke in a small, shaky voice.
"I'm too dirty. I don't want to ruin your beautiful sofa, ma'am."
That humble act completely broke my parents' hearts.
Even my father, who always said men shouldn't cry, had tears in his eyes.
He patted Amara's head and said, "Don't be silly, honey. This is your home now. You should call us Mom and Dad."
Amara nodded shyly, then her eyes landed on Caleb's unfinished homework on the coffee table.
With just a quick glance, she solved a complex math problem that Caleb had been stuck on all night.
Caleb's eyes lit up with pure admiration, and he started praising her as a genius.
My parents shared a proud smile, believing Amara's arrival would make our family perfect.
Throughout the whole scene, nobody asked for my opinion.
It was as if I, the biological daughter, didn't exist anymore now that the prodigy was here.
I just waited silently, because I knew what Amara was going to do next.
Just like in my previous life, Amara decided to mark her territory immediately.
She looked at me with tearful eyes and whispered, "Jade, why are you glaring at me like that?"
She lowered her head, looking completely crushed.
"I'm sorry. I never meant to take your parents away. If you hate me, I should just leave."
She said those words, but her butt didn't move an inch from that sofa.
My father looked at me with a stern, icy expression.
"Jade, you're the older sister now. You better learn to get along with Amara, do you hear me?"
Caleb snorted and rolled his eyes.
"Jade is just jealous because Amara is actually smart. Amara is a real genius, not a fraud like her."
