Last winter, Silas got drunk and confessed how much he wanted the throne. I decided then that I would give it to him as a birthday gift.

Silas wasn't as strong as the first prince or as smart as the eighth. But my family’s strength and my own strategies could fix his weaknesses.

I asked my father and brother to take Silas to the front lines. I drew up the battle plans myself, setting traps for the rogue wolves so Silas could swoop in and take the credit.

My family executed my plans perfectly. Silas led the charge and won a glorious victory.

The King was so happy he wrote a poem about Silas having the spirit of a true Alpha. Shortly after, Silas was named the Alpha Heir. My gift was delivered.

But he didn't want to share the joy with me. He took the fruit of my labor and handed it to Jade Vance, wanting to rule the world with her instead.

I wasn't going to let him insult me. I asked him what happened to the letters he wrote promising I would be his only wife.

He was just a man with no backbone. He wanted to look like a tragic lover instead of a cheater.

Silas was speechless for a moment. Just then, Jade Vance walked in, carrying her silver sword.

She told me not to make it hard for Silas. She said if I insisted on the marriage, she would step back and let me be an equal Luna.

My butler looked terrified. He apologized, saying he couldn't stop a commander with a sword.

I waved him off. I said Jade was just too unrefined to understand basic manners and that she looked like she was breaking in to kill an enemy.

I was being sarcastic. Entering a noble house uninvited with a weapon was a huge insult.

Jade didn't get it. She told me she was a straightforward warrior and didn't have time for the petty games of girls who stayed home all day.

She didn't think she was stealing my mate. She thought she was doing me a favor by sharing him.

I looked at Silas and asked him what he thought. He thought I was actually considering her offer.

He told me that if I insisted on being the Luna, I had to understand that Jade would be the one to have his first child. He said I would have to be okay with sleeping in a separate room and that their child would be the true heir.
