Chapter 3

Chapter 3

"You need to pay me back for that bottle right now!" Celine demanded.

I realized I had been too impulsive, so I did not argue further.

I Venmoed Lana the money for the bottle and told her to give Celine a new one.

"Celine, I paid for it, but I'm telling you as a friend―buy your makeup from authorized retailers. It's not worth the risk."

Lana did not want me brainwashing her customer any longer. She pushed Celine toward the door.

"Don't listen to my roommate. I will personally deliver a fresh bottle to you tomorrow," Lana promised.

To make up for the drama, Lana even took Celine out to buy her a boba tea.

I did not follow them. Instead, I stayed in the room and filmed the scene.

I used my phone to record myself scooping up the spilled foundation and putting the remains into a clean container.

I was going to send it to a lab for testing.

Because I had messed with their business, Lana had Tina spread rumors about me all over campus.

The story grew as it passed from person to person. Soon, everyone knew me as the jealous roommate.

Just like in my past life, people started whispering and pointing at me whenever I walked by.

But this time, I felt no fear. I had evidence; I was just waiting for the right moment.

I calculated the timing perfectly. Three days later was when Celine's reaction would peak, landing her in the hospital.

I headed to my morning lecture as usual.

Halfway there, I overheard some students gossiping.

"Did you hear? A girl in the sophomore class had a massive allergic reaction to some foundation. She's in the ER."

"It's not just an allergy. Her face is covered in red sores. She scratched her skin raw."

"The doctors say the damage might be permanent. Her skin will be sensitive to everything from now on."

I knew they were talking about Celine.

I checked Lana's social media. Every single one of her sales posts had been deleted.

She knew her products were the cause.

I thought I could just sit back and watch the drama unfold from a distance.

Then, my phone rang. It was my Academic Advisor.

"Hailey Moon, get to my office right this second!"

The roar on the other end of the line felt exactly like the nightmare from my past life.

I knew what this was about.

Even though I had nothing to do with the sales, I was being dragged into the mess.

Lana certainly knew how to frame a person.

The office was crowded when I walked in.

Lana, Tina, Celine's parents, and several school deans were all there waiting for me.

In my last life, I had burst into tears the moment I saw this crowd.

I had been so scared I could not even speak, which made me look guilty.

This time, I looked at every person in the room with a calm, cold gaze.

I pulled up a chair and sat down right in front of them.

"Stand up!" my Advisor screamed, throwing a book at me.

I did not move. I would just add that to the list of things she would have to pay for later.

Seeing my lack of reaction, Lana stepped up to play the role of the helpful student.

"Hailey, just admit what you did to Celine. If you confess now, I won't hold a grudge, and the school might be lenient."

The deans looked at Lana with admiration for being so reasonable.

Then they looked at me like they wanted to skin me alive.

Fine. I would deal with them one by one. I was not the same girl they could bully into a grave.

That's everything available right now.
