Chapter 2
2
Jaxson was persistent. My phone kept buzzing, and I felt a wave of disgust.
I blocked his number immediately. But seconds later, I got a friend request on my messaging app.
The note said, "I really need to talk to you."
I narrowed my eyes. I wanted to see what he would try this time, so I accepted.
He messaged me right away. "How do you know who I'm looking for?"
"Even if I got the wrong girl, it doesn't change the fact that I want to know you."
In my last life, he didn't say that. He had praised my talent instead.
Back then, he said, "I saw the sketches on your profile. You're so talented. I'm impressed."
I had been so flattered. I thought my idol finally noticed me.
I didn't realize it was just the beginning of my nightmare. He loved the talent, but he wanted the face of my best friend.
This time, I had already deleted all my artwork from my profile. I was changing the script.
When I didn't reply, he sent more messages. "Why the silence? Are you nervous?"
"I know being a celebrity makes me seem distant, but I'm actually a very nice guy."
He always played the role of the perfect gentleman. But I knew the monster hiding behind the mask.
He lived on a pedestal, worshiped by millions. He looked down on ordinary people like me.
The moment he realized I wasn't the pretty girl he wanted, he became a demon.
"Stop pretending. You did this on purpose," he had screamed in the past. "People like you make me sick."
"You're just a greedy, vain bitch. You're worth nothing to me."
He told me to disappear, then he made sure I suffered. The cyberbullying was his doing.
Seeing his fake, sweet words now just made me want to laugh.
I typed back, "Jaxson, I know you only like pretty faces. Too bad I'm not one."
The chat went silent. I took a deep breath, thinking it was over.
Then, a video call request popped up. My heart sank.
I tried to hit the ignore button, but my thumb slipped. I accidentally answered it.
Jaxson was sitting on a plush leather sofa in a private club. Several other famous faces were around him.
The moment my face appeared on the screen, his friends crowded around like they were looking at a freak show.
Then, they burst into laughter. "Whoa, Jax, is this the 'goddess' you were talking about?"
"You were losing sleep over this? Her eyes are tiny and her face is as round as a pancake."
The insults were exactly like the ones from my previous life. Jaxson didn't stop them. He just watched.
When the laughter died down, he smirked. "My bad. I definitely got the wrong girl."
I didn't care about his faking or his rude friends anymore. I just wanted him gone.
"Don't call again," I said coldly, and hung up.
