Chapter 1
I am a Soulcaller, a bridge between the living and the dead.
I can bring any corpse back to life as long as they have been dead for less than five hours.
In my past life, Silas Blackwood and his entire family knelt at my door, promising their entire fortune.
They begged me to use my gift to resurrect the old Patriarch Blackwood.
Afterward, Silas married me and treated me like a precious treasure.
But three months later, the Patriarch died under mysterious circumstances.
The Matriarch of the Blackwood family threw me out and sent me to prison.
I was pregnant and begged for mercy, but Silas kicked me so hard that the life inside me was snuffed out.
"What Soulcaller? You are nothing but a common fraud!" he spat.
"If you hadn't delayed my grandfather's actual medical treatment with your parlor tricks, he wouldn't have died! I will kill you to appease his spirit!"
"Since you claim to be a Soulcaller, why don't you try calling your own soul back after you are dead?"
They gouged out my eyes, and I died a miserable death after being sentenced to the chair.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day Silas Blackwood was kneeling on the floor, begging for my help.
I waved my hand and refused him coldly. "Resurrection? That's just a bedtime story for children."
"Dead people cannot return to life. It's all just a rumor."

"Ms. Sterling, you are the only Soulcaller left in the world. How can you say there is no way?"
The Matriarch of the Blackwood family was hunched over, her face drenched in tears.
Her hair was white, and she could barely stand as she stroked the body on the stretcher covered by a white sheet.
"As long as you save my husband, we will pay for all your grandmother's medical bills."
"I'm begging you. Look at my age and help us. If he doesn't come back, I don't want to live anymore."
The old woman collapsed to the ground, sobbing and banging her head against the floor.
Patriarch Blackwood had left behind a massive estate, but he died before he could sign over the keys to his secret wealth.
In my last life, I sacrificed my own life force to revive him, only to be blinded and murdered in the end.
The phantom pain of a bullet entering my brain surged through me, making me tremble uncontrollably.
Reporters held their cameras toward me, the flashes blinding and relentless.
The Blackwood family had brought a crowd, making it look like a plea, but it was actually moral kidnapping.
The live stream was already filled with comments calling me cold-hearted and money-hungry.
The Matriarch looked up with a bruised forehead.
"Ms. Sterling, if you help us, I will give you the entire Blackwood Group. Silas will help you take care of your grandmother."
"Please, have some pity on an old woman."
The Blackwood Group was currently on the verge of bankruptcy. They were desperate for the Patriarch to reveal the location of his billion-dollar hidden assets to save them.
The Matriarch promised me the company, but she was really just handing me a sinking ship.
Just then, Silas Blackwood arrived, looking aggressive and fierce.
He helped the Matriarch up and glared at me with hatred.
"Grandmother, if she won't help, then forget it. She's just a con artist playing games. This resurrection stuff is all a lie to scare people. Don't believe her."
"It's the twenty-first century. We can't be this superstitious. You have to believe in modern medicine."
He pulled a woman forward from behind him and introduced her loudly.
"This is Seraphina Cross, a specialist who just returned from abroad. She graduated from an Ivy League medical school. She's a thousand times better than this fraud!"
He begged the Matriarch to let Seraphina take over while painting me as a greedy fake.
Unlike the last life where he begged me alongside his grandmother, I realized something instantly.
Silas Blackwood had also been reborn.
The Matriarch acted as if she had found a lifeline and grabbed Seraphina's hand.
Seraphina nodded solemnly. "Don't worry, Matriarch. As a doctor, I have a heart. I'm not like some people who only care about money."
"I won't charge a cent, and I will definitely bring him back."
Silas looked at me with a sneer. "Willa Sterling, you little liar. Don't think I don't know what you're playing at."
"You're trying to play hard to get so you can worm your way into my family and become a trophy wife? In your dreams!"
"I won't let you succeed. Seraphina is the one I love. If you think you can use my grandfather's life to force me to marry you, think again!"
The Matriarch frowned. "Silas, don't say that. Ms. Sterling hasn't asked for anything yet."
"That's because I stopped her before she could open her mouth!"
Silas continued to shout, pointing toward the door and telling me to get lost.
I stood there, watching Silas and Seraphina hold hands tightly.
They looked like a sweet young couple.
His past promises of loving me forever still echoed in my ears, but I had trusted the wrong man back then.
I cleared my thoughts and turned to leave without expression.
"Since Ms. Cross is taking the case, I'll take my leave."
The moment I stepped toward the door, a sudden chill filled the air.
My heart skipped a beat.
Patriarch Blackwood was truly dead now.
I thought of the Matriarch's twisted face when she had me sentenced to death in my past life.
I lowered my head and quickened my pace.
In this life, I wanted nothing to do with the Blackwood family.
