Chapter 3 The wolfsbane

Chapter 3 Aurora's P.O.V

Alpha Zane has been looking for his mate for ages and almost all the top ranking officials in the park have found their mates and the only one remaining was Alpha Zane. "His mate would be the unluckiest person in the world to have such a ruthless man as a mate" I thought inwardly when Miss Layla walked into the room with a tray in her hands. The tray was filled with plates of bacon, scrambled eggs, toasted bread and a cup of coffee. "Thank you" I muttered, devouring the food while she just stared at me. I was still eating when she said, "Do you need my help to break me from the shackles that hold you captive." "Hmmmm" She was about to make a statement when the door flung open, head servant, Mia, was standing at the door glaring at me with anger written boldly on her face. She came towards me and shoved the tray aside, grabbing me by the wrist as I let out a wince but she didn't seem to care. She grasped me by the shoulder and said, "Foolish girl, get a grip of yourself and listen to me! you would be the setting the table for the pack's today and you would do anything that they ask of you without you behaving timid or showing any pain." "Ummm, me? Only me? Why" I stuttered as she attempted to hit me on the cheek but held herself back. "I won't add to your pain by hitting you but clearly know that this is on Alpha Zane's command and you have to do it because you can't disobey an Alpha" "Why am I even telling you all of this? It's not like you don't the rules. If you love your peace of mind tonight, dress into a better cloth and set the dinning in the next ten minutes" She said as I scurried into my room hurriedly, putting on a yellow flowery gown above knee height while tying my hair into a messy bun. I took a glance at myself in the mirror and tears welled up in my eyes on seeing my reflection. I looked pathetic with bandages plastered over my body, my lips were swollen with traces of blood on it and I had a dark eye and a puffy face that was caused from too much tears. I sprinted to the dinning and set the table arranging the dishes on the elongated dinning table. I glanced at the clock and quickly stood at the corner in the dinning hall when I saw that it was almost time. Within the next five minutes, the packs trooped into the dinning hall, taking their seats and I was glad that none of them noticed my presence. I would be more overjoyed if none of them demanded for my presence till the whole dinner ends but I know that wouldn't be possible. A deafening silence enveloped the room and even though I couldn't see his face because of my head that lowered. From the aura that his presence carries, I already knew that he was here, Alpha Zane was here. All the other packs stood up in respect to him and only sat down as soon as he took his seat. When they all too their seats, I walked towards them in order to dish out their food. I tried to compose myself in every way possible inorder not to get scolded before the packs, the last thing I needed was for another misery to be added upon my life. I was still dishing out the food when someone grabbed me by the wrist, causing me to stare at the person right in the eye. It was Elle, Alpha Zane's ex-girlfriend, she was a Beta and she had a very bossy and rude nature. She was extremely lousy, uncouth and didn't know when to speak. Apart from the all bad things mentioned about her, she was extremely beautiful. That was the only good thing about her. "What" I mouthed, trying to remove her grip from my hands. "Zane, isn't she the daughter of the Rogue that killed your parents?" Elle said, fixating her gaze on Alpha Zane who glared at me as if he was about to rip my heart out in the open. "Please let me go, I need to dish out my master's food" I pleaded. This was one of the reasons why I detested Elle with great passion, she always to bring the matter up anytime she has the chance too. My father was a rogue who murdered Alpha Zane's parents and somehow, my father was caught by the then Beta who tracked him down and killed him in retaliation of what he did to the former Alpha and his Luna. Unfortunately, I spared alive since my father spared young Alpha Zane's life but the twist was that I was taken as a slave and Alpha Zane had held a grudge against me for years. I was suffering for the sins of my father. "Yes she is the Murderer's daughter" He replied as Elle turned to look at me with disgust written on her face. "Ewww" She pushed me as I fell on my butt to the ground while letting out a soft whimper. My body ached with immense pain and this Elle was determined to add to it. I gathered all the strength I had inside of me and walked towards Alpha Zane in order to dish out his food but as soon as I got there, he picked the glass filled with water and splashed it on my face, he also picked the bowl of soup and emptied the content on my head till my body was dripping with soup nd water. A loud gasp filled covered the room and I heard a chuckle that followed after, at that time I knew it was Elle. "Get out of here" I heard him say and I lowered my head in respect. "That was it!I have had enough" I cried, trying to catch my breath as I walked towards the rooftop. It was better to be dead than to go through this type of maltreatment for the rest of my life. I cried my heart out, hoping that someone could come to my rescue. Deep down, I didn't want to die, I just wanted to end the pain and my misery. I stood at the edge of the rooftop, crying, trying so hard not to look down. I crumbled back to the ground when I noticed that I couldn't do it, I couldn't commit suicide. My life must be so miserable! Why was I always filled with fear. "I told you that if you wanted to break free from your shackles, then you need my help!" I heard someone say. I froze at the spot on hearing the voice, it was Miss Layla, but what was she doing here? "Layla" I cleaned my tears and stood on my feet while she walked towards me shaking her head. "So you want to kill yourself because of an Alpha that doesn't care about you" She scoffed, leaning on the railings at the rooftop for support. "What would you have me do? I am a worthless slave" I cried. "Don't say that again Aurora, your father was a strong Rogue, he was fierce and he wouldn't want to see you in this kind of situation" "I know Layla, I know" "So, I want to end your misery by giving you this" Layla said, stretching a small bottle towards me. "W-What is this?" I stuttered, hesitating to collect the bottle from her. "Wolfsbane! You can do as you wish to the Alpha with this wolfsbane."
