Chapter 2

I would be your wife sir, that's my job"

Alessandro Nate Lavoisier, the attractive and agile first son of Ernesto and Marie Lavoisier and also the Chief Executive Officer, Lavoisier Conglomerate.

He dropped his cup of wine gently, squinting at the lady in front of him. She seemed malnourished and looked like she needed an appointment with a Nutritionist . Though her eyes which had caught Alessandro's attention were the colour of the sky, thoroughly charming and enchanting.

Although totally beautiful, she was really not his type. What is it with the dressing, this was a club right? He thought as he surveyed her from head to toe.

"What did you say?" he leaned a bit closer trying to grasp what she was saying amidst the blaring music and the occasional shouts from a jeering crowd.

"I said I would be your wife sir." She shouted a bit louder realising he could barely hear her. " I know it is wrong to listen but I overheard your conversation of needing a wife and I wouldn't mind taking that position." She grinned at him.

They say first impressions count a lot and Theresa was hoping to have a good impression on this handsome man. She would appreciate it if he overlooked her skinny appearance and just accepted the proposal.

"We would have rules by the way" she continued when she realised he was not saying anything. "It is going to be a contract."

"A contract?"

..........

The urban city of Harbor was indeed one of the best places to be during summer. The trees were all in their full leafy glory, and their flowers added beautiful colours to the metropolis.

Alessandro sighed for the umpteenth time as he was being driven to his residence at the Riverside Heights of the harbour city. It was a Wednesday night and he ought to have dinner with the family.

His father would be disappointed. The old man had insisted on having his eight sons at dinner every Wednesday night as he believed that would help foster the bonds.

Even at that, he and his brothers made sure to miss it once in a while as all they had to do was give an excuse. But Alessandro knew he couldn't give any excuses. His father was anticipating the feedback from the Shanghai Nationals and he didn't really have anything for him.

He furrowed his brows at this. They had stated very clearly that they would have nothing to do with him or his company if they did not perceive him as stable. Stable, in what sense? He was forced to ask them.

"Do you have a woman in your life Mr. Lavoisier?" The head representative of the Shanghai Nationals had asked him. When did having a woman become a requirement for signing a business contract? Did they know how many contracts he had handled successfully without a woman?

If it was not for the influence this particular company had on the market and the connections they had he would have definitely turned down the contract. But now, he would not even be able to look his father in the eyes and tell him he turned down a contract from Shanghai Nationals because of a woman.

Come to think of it, when was the last time he had a woman in his life? It should have been about six months ago. That was Natasha, he had met her at the club one night and her aura struck him. She was alluring and not the type of girl you would randomly find.

A one night stand finally broke off into occasional flings as sex with her was always sensual. They were beginning to build a romantic relationship before she left for studies in France. Oh, how he wished she was around now.

"Take me to the nearest club, you can inform the convoy to stop following. I do not want so much attention." he instructed the driver. Who knows I might get lucky, he mused to himself.

......

This was the first time he would be stepping in the club after he met Tasha as he fondly called her. The ambiance wasn't welcoming and he was beginning to wish he wasn't there. His brows furrowed as the blaring sounds hit him, he was definitely in for a long night. Thank goodness he came in with his driver.

He walked elegantly and with poise towards the bar. As much as he tried not to, there was nothing he could do about it. Standing out wherever they went was one of the glistening qualities of the Lavoisiers.

Alessandro, being the first son, was a master at this. He ordered a bottle of Lavender wine be brought to their table as he made to have his seat. Unlike several others in his category, he did not see anything bad in sharing bottles of wine with the driver.

Although, he sometimes uses the wine as bait to get information from his driver as he seemed to be able to see the intricacies of all non-administrative staff. It always worked and had also helped Alessandro know those who needed to go.

He was about to take a shot of the drink when his phone rang. It was his immediate younger brother, Xavier. Why was he calling? Alessandro had his guess already as he picked the call.

"Are you coming or what?" Xavier asked, his voice very masculine.

"I'm not." Alessandro groaned over the phone.

"Why? What's up with you?"

"Nothing"

"You don't have to lie to me," Xavier said, chuckling over the phone, as he knew fully well that Alessandro wouldn't want to get in their father's bad book for nothing.

"Well, I have to be stable to sign the Shanghai contract " Alessandro signed resignedly

"Stable, is the company experiencing drawbacks?" Still oblivious of the stable being talked about, Xavier thanked his stars that he wasn't the first son and he had also chosen a completely different line. Not business, but photography.

"I need a wife, they want to believe I am stable psychologically and they think a wife would help solve it" he sighed even more

"Wow", that was all Xavier could squeeze out.

"Do me a favour. Don't tell father, I would do that myself if need be."

"Okay, but what do I tell him?"

"I don't know, find something." made to drop the call and that was when he noticed her standing right before him.

"I would be your wife sir, that's my job"
