Chapter 3

"He's here", Sophie squealed, doing her jolly dance.

Theresa rolled her eyes in mock amusement as she could not fathom what was making Sophie act like that over a man, well maybe he is not just a man, a demi-god maybe?

She hadn't realised that the man she had asked to be his wife was the first son and Chief Executive Officer of the Lavosier's Conglomerate. What a big fish.

He walked straight at Theresa with such gracefulness, one would think he was in charge of everyone in the establishment. He brought out the chair directly in front of her and sat.

He was indeed emanating elegance, and Sophie's earlier description was really not doing justice.

Andrew Nate Lavoisier, a demi-god. He looked at the woman in front of him, then drew his lips into a thin line, narrowed his eyes at her as though she were filth.

"Shall we get to business?" He asked "and you better not be wasting my time."

Theresa looked over at Sophie and signalled her to distribute the deed of agreement.

"We shall now go ahead. Here are the rules stated by the company and please state any modifications if the need be"

She passed Theresa the sleek white paper that had the deed and went over to drop Andrew's own for him.

Theresa was able to catch Sophie whimpering to the effects of the hazel eyed man.

So what if he had money? What was all that batting of eyelid and skimmish smiles for, heck am I not the one getting married to him? She thought.

"This is fair" Andrew said, breaking the ice berg "but I do have a few additions, Tessa is it?"

Where did the miss go, was the reaction on Theresa's face and just before she could answer Sophie jumped in, "Yes please, let's hear it".

"I would like to add that Tessa and I would court for about two to three months before the actual marriage."

"She has to be ready for impromptu gala dinners with business partners, to meet my father and join us for dinner every Wednesday and also be ready for any outing that might come up."

"Might I ask if you would be needing a wardrobe change? Because I would not want my supposed wife here dressed like she had just been hit by a local brand tailor." He stopped, this time, taking a proper look at her again.

"What exactly are you putting on? Is this how you dress to work?" Andrew asked, acting all genuine.

The effrontery! Sophie's eyes went wide and her mouth, even wider. Theresa was about to give the rude funk a piece of her mind when the managing director walked in. One look at him and she closed her already opened mouth.

"Mr. Lavoisier, it is a pleasure to finally meet you. I can see Sophie is taking you through the deed of agreement and you have met Theresa Whyte, your wife to be. If there's anything you need please communicate that with Sophie. Thank you."

He then extended his arms to take the billionaire's in his. That was Tessa's boss, the very phenomenal and to an extent weird man, Cornor Braille.

"Miss Whyte, please see me in my office once you are done here." He said while facing Theresa.

She nodded her head in consent, because the turn of events was indeed surprising.

Mr Braille disappeared just as he had shown up, and Theresa moved to look at the human who she now considered a fig in front of her.

She raised her eyebrow at him and gave him a questioning look, "are we done?"

Just because she requested to be his wife does not mean he had the right to talk to her rudely, her brain opinionated.

He looked her over and faced Sophie, "I would also be needing her home address. Do well to tell her to get prepared by 5pm this evening as we would have our first date by then and she should kindly dress presentably."

He acted as though she was not present in the room. Stood up, dusted his well-ironed suit and walked out.

"What was that?" Theresa quizzed Sophie like she indeed had not been present all along.

"Oh, that was sleek," she replied, whistling.

Did Sophie think it was funny?

"He had no right to talk to me like that" Tessa said, her nose flaring up

"Chill girl, get used to it. You are stuck with that attitude for the rest of the year. You brought him in, remember? " she said.

She was indeed stuck, but the thought of the pay she would be getting and the commendations were quite satisfying . She played with the thought in her head, and did not know when a smile popped on her lips.

"Oh my, just the thought of him is making you smile this much. Make sure you don't fall for him" Sophie said, winking at her.

"What nonsense are you spewing? please excuse me" Theresa replied, pushing Sophie aside whilst moving out of the conference room.

She was about to walk out of the building when she heard her name. Turning back, it was the managing director.

"Miss Whyte, my office please" he requested, authoritatively adding the 'please' as an afterthought.

She had totally forgotten she was meant to meet up with him, and she couldn't help but wonder what he wanted to discuss with her.

Was it more commendation from closing the deal with the billionaire or even more a promotion? These questions danced around her head as she walked in his box office.

This was her third time here and she still wasn't used to it.

The office was designed as though it was for the most junior officer in the building. It was so tight, someone suffering from claustrophobia would not have survived there. Besides the air conditioner in the room, it was pretty basic.

"Have your seat"

She did as she was told and looked at him in earnest.

"I'm sorry about the other day" he started" I believe I should apologise even though it seemed to have worked."

Well that was not a lie, was it? It was his words to her 4 days earlier that pushed her to that impulsive action.

As Theresa sat up on her seat to reply,

"Knock, knock"

Who could that be?
