My screen finally lit up.

The CEO's reply was finally here.

"Don't be ridiculous! The company is in a critical IPO stage. You can't just quit!"

"Wait until I get back to handle your grievances. Stop causing trouble!"

Reading that message, the last bit of hesitation in my heart vanished.

I felt completely numb.

I had realized long ago that the CEO didn't actually care about the accounting department.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have brushed me off when I tried to optimize the reimbursement process.

He also wouldn't have rejected my request to give basic financial training to the sales team.

In the office, the roast session was still going strong.

Victoria saw me looking at my phone and felt ignored. Her voice went up an octave.

"Cynthia! Are you even listening? What is with this attitude!"

I locked my screen and looked up. My face was expressionless, but my words stunned everyone.

"Victoria, everyone, are you finished?"

The room went silent for a moment.

I stood up and walked over to Victoria's desk.

I picked up the stack of reports Brianna had shoved at me and gave them a little shake.

"Since everyone feels I'm unreasonable and hindering the company's growth, fine."

I turned to Brianna and stuffed the reports back into her hands.

"Brianna said she would be more considerate of everyone, so I'm handing over all my work to her."

"Victoria, you don't have an issue with that, right?"

Victoria was caught off guard by my sudden move.

But the other managers, especially Liam, immediately chimed in.

"I think that's a great idea! Let Brianna try. Young people have more energy!"

"Exactly! It's time for some fresh blood!"

Seeing the enthusiasm and realizing she could finally push me out, Victoria went along with it.

"Brianna, you'll take over Cynthia's duties for now. Do a good job. Don't let me down."

Brianna's face lit up with such joy and triumph she almost jumped.

She gave me a provocative look and patted her chest.

"Don't worry, Victoria! Everyone, don't worry! I'll get everything done fast. You won't have to wait!"

I smiled slightly and added one last thing.

"I'll send out an email to the whole company stating that I've handed over all my work. From this moment on, all responsibility lies with you."

Brianna was so drunk on her new power that she didn't even think before answering.

"Got it, got it! Stop nagging!"

I nodded, said nothing more, and went back to my desk to slowly pack my personal things.
