Chapter 2
2
Apologize?
I almost laughed.
I was a ghost.
The extreme pressure shattered my organs, the sub-zero temperature froze my body, my lower half…a gruesome mess.
The plane flew on, my blood splattered, swirling, carried by the wind.
It even left a long, crimson streak on the fuselage.
I wondered what Mark would think.
But he was only concerned about Sarah.
"Sarah, you're too naive, the plane's shaking so violently, even I'm scared, but that woman, knowing you have a fear of heights, deliberately flew into turbulence to scare you."
"You know, when she was hanging there, she lied and said she was pregnant to get me to let her go! She's so afraid of death after all! How could she disregard your life and the lives of everyone else on board?"
My heart ached, I could barely breathe.
Mark not only denied my professionalism but also thought my pregnancy was a lie?
I looked at the blood-soaked body swinging beneath the wing.
As soon as I was hoisted up, I knew it would be fatal, so I struggled before the plane reached high altitude.
To survive, I broke my own hands to escape the ropes!
I was so close!
But then, Mark looked out the window, saw my struggle, and flew into a rage.
He ordered the assistant:
Change course! Accelerate! Fly directly into the turbulence!
I watched in horror as a swirling vortex of thunder and lightning bore down on us.
Then, I closed my eyes, forever.
The plane leveled off.
Mark, clutching his rosary beads, instructed his assistant:
"Find a field to land. Let's release Sarah for now."
"I'm hungry. Let her prepare dinner for everyone on the plane. If it's good, she can eat with us.
Whether or not we continue her punishment depends on how sincerely she apologizes to Sarah."
The assistant trembled as he obeyed.
Sarah playfully punched Mark.
"Don't bully Sarah, she's very nice to me."
Mark sighed, looking worriedly at the girl in his arms.
"Silly Sarah, you're too innocent, that's why you're tormented by women like her.
I can't always be there to protect you. You have to grow up, learn to distinguish between genuine kindness and manipulative behavior."
"Mark, you're the first one to tell me this. Everyone only cares about how high I fly, but you… care if I'm tired…" Sarah said, moved.
They gazed at each other, their lips met, and then they began to kiss fiercely.
But at the last moment, Sarah pushed him away, breathing heavily.
"No! You're married to Sarah! I can't be the other woman!"
Mark's desire burned in his eyes, his voice hoarse.
"Okay, give me some time. A clean me, only deserves a clean you."
He kissed her forehead, gently as if protecting a treasure.
Sarah's eyes flashed with triumph.
Mark didn't see it, but I did.
