Chapter 3
3 I was devastated.
I stubbornly argued, "But the doctor said the baby is healthy!"
"I'm an OB/GYN too, and you dare argue with me?!"
As Dad was about to punch my belly, Mom rushed over to protect me.
"Are you crazy? Your daughter is pregnant!"
Mom yelled at Dad.
But Dad wasn't angry, he sneered, "You feel sorry for her, but this bitch doesn't deserve to be our daughter!"
"Or our grandchild!"
After Dad said this, everyone was shocked.
They criticized Dad for saying that to his daughter.
Mom was out of breath, but she knew Dad was usually gentle.
There must be something wrong with the report.
"Let me see the report!"
I rushed to stop Mom, pleading, "Mom, the doctor said the baby is healthy, please don't look."
"Mom, if you don't believe me, ask the doctor."
I knew that if Mom saw the report, she would reject me as her daughter.
Mom hugged me, comforting me, "Don't worry, your dad and Mark must have made a mistake."
"Mom was the head of OB/GYN, trust Mom."
I frantically shook my head, "No, no, Mom, don't look. I believe you, please don't look."
But the more I stopped her, the more curious she became about the report.
Seeing Mom insist, I knelt down.
"Mom, if you see this report, you'll reject me like they did."
"No, Sarah, this baby is fine, get up, let's go home."
Mom said it was fine, but her hand trembled.
She was suppressing her emotions.
"No, I don't want to go home." I backed away into the crowd.
Mom frowned, looking at me with a sinister expression.
"Sarah, what are you doing? What if something happens to you outside?"
As Mom and the others were about to grab me, I grabbed two strangers' clothes, begging, "Please save me! I can't go with them, they'll kill my baby!"
The strangers hesitated.
I was pregnant, and clearly distressed, and the others were my family, so it was hard to interfere.
Luckily, someone spoke up, "She's pregnant, and emotionally unstable. Don't force her."
"Yes, what if it hurts the baby?"
But my parents ignored them, approaching me menacingly.
"Sarah, do you have paranoid delusions?"
"Come home with us, don't disturb the hospital!"
My parents tried to pull me away, kind people blocking them. "She's a pregnant woman, she's stressed, she should see a doctor, it might affect the baby."
"We're OB/GYNs, she doesn't need to see a doctor?!" My dad yelled at the person.
The bystanders hesitated. Mark took the opportunity to pull me from the crowd, dragging me on the ground.
Even the kindest bystanders wouldn't dare take me from my family.
But then, two hands stopped Mark.
"Who allowed you to drag a pregnant woman like that!"
A police officer shouted, and Mark let go.
That's everything available right now.
