Chapter 3

3

"You… you've crossed the line!"

Jenna's face twisted into an ugly mask of rage.

She reached out to grab my arm, suddenly pretending to be reasonable, as if I were the crazy one.

I pulled away in disgust and sneered.

"I crossed the line? Who betrayed our relationship? Who turned our wedding into a sickening farce?!"

I turned on my heel, ready to leave.

"Garrett, stop right there!"

Panicking, Jenna lunged forward to block me.

"You injured someone and you think you can just walk away?! You owe me an explanation!"

I stepped aside, staring at her coldly.

"An explanation? I don't want to marry you anymore. Got a problem with that?"

Jenna froze, clearly caught off guard by my blunt response.

Seeing the stalemate, Austin seized the opportunity to chime in with his fake concern.

"Garrett, don't be reckless! I'm saying this for your own good!"

"Do you know who Jenna is? Marrying into her family is a blessing most men can only dream of!"

"Don't forget, without the Adler family, you'd probably still be starving on the streets!"

Austin tapped my shoulder with condescending pity, glancing at the crowd as if to show how ungrateful I was.

His words sparked whispers among the guests, many eyeing me with envy and judgment.

Swallowing the bile rising in my throat, I smacked his hand away.

"Save your fake sympathy!"

"Do you have any idea how hard I worked to build this company? I spent countless nights working until dawn just to prove my worth!"

"Have you counted how many millions my core tech has made for the Adler Group over the years?"

"Without me, the Adler family business wouldn't even be half of what it is today!"

Austin was struck dumb by my words, but Jenna lost her temper and screamed, "Garrett, shut up! Who do you think you are? What right do you have to talk like that?!"

I stared at the heavily made-up woman before me, my heart heavy with grief.

Was this the girl I had loved with all my soul?

The girl who once smiled and promised to build a life with me when I had nothing?

I let out a self-deprecating laugh, full of disappointment.

I sighed softly and looked her in the eyes.

"Jenna, you've changed. It doesn't matter who I am. What matters is that I know what I want."

"I want someone who genuinely loves me, not someone who treats me like a stepping stone."

Her eyes flickered with unease, avoiding my gaze.

"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I change? Haven't we been through so much together over the years?"

She forced a casual smile, but it felt completely foreign to me.

I stared into her eyes and asked slowly, "Do you still remember what you said to me seven years ago?"

That's everything available right now.
