Chapter 2

2.

The next day, I went to the wedding planning company as planned to make the final confirmations.

When the appointed time came, Trevor still hadn't arrived.

The staff asked with a hint of doubt, "Should we wait for Mr. Garrison to come together?"

I smiled lightly and said softly, "No need to wait."

Anyway, this wedding was just a one-man show for me from beginning to end.

Right at that moment, he finally arrived in a hurry.

I caught a glimpse of the ambiguous red marks still left on his neck. It was obvious he and Sierra had a very passionate night yesterday.

Noticing my gaze, he subconsciously reached out to cover it and coughed awkwardly.

The staff was waiting for him to confirm the dishes for the banquet. He didn't even think before saying, "Choose the most expensive package. Serve Maine lobster and king crab legs. Quinn deserves the best."

The staff praised him with a face full of envy, "Mr. Garrison really dotes on you. He picks the best of everything."

But my heart felt sour.

"We don't need the most expensive one."

He interrupted gently, "Don't try to save money. This is our wedding."

"No," I paused for a second and said softly, "I'm allergic to seafood."

He froze for a moment, then apologized with a bit of embarrassment, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to..."

I shook my head, hiding my emotions. "It's fine."

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen, his eyes lit up, and he immediately answered it.

His tone was so soft it sank into his bones. "Sierra? What do you want for lunch? How about Maison Blanche?"

His voice was a bit urgent and so gentle that it suffocated me.

I lowered my eyes, holding back the stinging pain in my heart.

Suddenly, he paused and nervously reminded her, "Oh, right, don't order their desserts. You're allergic to mangoes."

After hanging up, he seemed to realize something and explained softly, "Sierra used to come to my house for dinner a lot... so I know this."

I opened my mouth but found I couldn't say anything. I had to force down that bitterness.

I nodded and didn't ask further, and he seemed relieved.

A little while later, Sierra actually showed up.

She had a faint smile on her face and said in a brisk voice, "Trevor, Quinn, I wanted to give you a surprise and came to see you. Let's have lunch together later. You don't mind, do you?"

Saying that, she looked at me with a smiling face, as if she really cared about my feelings.

I looked at her and clearly read a kind of smugness and provocation in her eyes.

It seemed she also knew this wedding was just a fake show Trevor put on for me.

And she came here just to see me make a fool of myself with her own eyes.

I smiled faintly. "Why would I mind?"

The staff didn't know the situation and continued asking about the details.

But every time, before I could speak, she rushed to answer, "Let's choose freesia for the flowers. It's elegant and simple."

"Cool tones would be better for the color matching."

Her tone was casual, as if she was planning her own wedding, while I was just an expendable bystander.

Throughout the whole process, he didn't utter a single word of objection. He even smiled in agreement and cooperated with her every decision.

They sang the same tune, looking exceptionally harmonious together.

The staff showed a look of embarrassment, looked at me, and hesitated whether to continue.

I took a deep breath and coldly interrupted her. "Ms. Yates, this is my wedding. If you have designs you like, you can save them for your own wedding."

I carried a trace of sarcasm on the corner of my lips. "Or, are you hoping I'd give this wedding to you?"

Sierra's face changed slightly, but she quickly recovered and smiled considerately and innocently. "I'm sorry. I've been living abroad for a long time and I'm just straightforward. I hope you don't mind."

The way she acted made it seem like I was the one being petty.

He also hurriedly spoke up for her, his tone even carrying some blame for me overthinking. "Quinn, Sierra didn't mean it that way. Don't misunderstand."

The sourness and anger surged in my heart, almost forcing tears out of my eyes.

I didn't believe he couldn't see Sierra's provocation. He was just silently allowing it.

Her simple excuse of being straightforward easily made him defend her, while my grievances were just me being unreasonable in his eyes.

My eight years of relationship with him was easily erased by one sentence from Sierra.
