Chapter 3

The party was in full swing, and someone suggested a game of 'I Have Never.' Each person had to name something unique about themselves, and anyone who hadn't done it had to take a shot.

When it was Macy's turn, she gripped her glass and gave a sweet, sugary smile. "I have... a man who will always stand behind me and do anything for me, no matter what happens."

As soon as she said it, the crowd went wild. "Macy, that's cheating! You're the prom queen, everyone loves you. You're just trying to make us drink!"

Everyone was laughing, except for me. I stared at her as she slowly raised one finger.

She said that specifically for me to hear.

In the past, I thought my conflict with Macy was just about competing for grades. I didn't think it was a big deal.

But now, I finally understood.

She didn't just want to beat my test scores.

It was my turn.

I looked up and spoke calmly. "I have... a record of being ranked number one in the entire grade for every single exam since I was a kid."

The room erupted again. "That's totally unfair! Nobody can beat that!"

But I wasn't smiling. My gaze was fixed on Macy. My voice dropped slightly. "What about you? Can you say the same?"

In that instant, Macy's smile froze. Her cheeks flushed with anger, and she bit her lip hard. Eventually, she had to lower her hand.

The sparkling ring finally disappeared into her palm.

A moment later, Macy hurried out of the room.

Unsurprisingly, Lucas followed her shortly after.

I stood up and followed them from a distance.

In an empty private room, Macy's eyes were red as she questioned him. "Sienna was mocking me on purpose! Didn't you hear her? She was trying to humiliate me!"

Lucas tried to soothe her. "She probably didn't mean it that way. Don't overthink it."

"You're still defending her?" Macy's voice rose, tinged with a spoiled pout. "Then why don't you just stay with her and leave me alone!"

Lucas immediately panicked and grabbed her hand. "No, you're the most important one. You're my only one."

Seeing his reaction, a hint of triumph flashed in Macy's eyes. She leaned in and kissed him, her voice seductive. "Then help me get back at her, okay? Tonight, find some thugs... Tomorrow, I want to release those videos of her with multiple guys. I want her to be completely disgraced in front of the whole school, the teachers, and everyone. I want her name scrubbed from the Ivy League list!"

I stood in the shadows, my heart pounding so hard it felt like it would burst out of my chest.

I was waiting.

I was waiting for Lucas to refuse, even if he just hesitated for a second.

After all, he kept saying he loved me.

Shouldn't a man protect his woman?

Lucas lowered his head and was silent for a long time.

But Macy already knew his weakness. she leaned against his chest and whispered in his ear.

"Lucas, if you do this for me, I'll do anything you want tonight~"

As soon as she said that, Lucas seemed to catch fire. He pulled her into a tight embrace, breathing heavily as he began to kiss her neck.

"Don't worry. For you, I'll do anything."

The summer heat hadn't faded yet.

But I was frozen to the core.
