Chapter 3
3.
After the IV was finished, I took a cab home alone.
When Nadia returned in the middle of the night, I was already sound asleep.
Without warning, she ripped the blanket off my body and began shouting at me.
“What kind of childish tantrum are you pulling now? Hayden hurt his leg, and I went to check on him as a friend. What did I do wrong?”
Being violently dragged out of a deep sleep would infuriate anyone.
Before she could continue her tirade, I cut her off coldly.
“You did nothing wrong. Run off into the sunset with your gigolo for all I care. You two are a match made in heaven, the greatest couple on earth. Are you happy now?”
“If you are satisfied, get the fuck out of my room. I need to sleep.”
Nadia’s face darkened with fury, but I could not care less.
Did she not hate me calling Hayden a gigolo? Then I would make sure to say it louder.
He spent my money, slept with my wife, and had the audacity to mock me to my face. Calling him a gigolo was being generous.
I thought of the three-hundred-thousand-dollar luxury watch sitting inside my safe.
Nadia had admired it while shopping weeks ago but deemed it too expensive. I had taken on several private consulting projects just to buy it for her.
I had planned to give it to her on our anniversary, only to receive a cuckold cap and endless insults from her lover in return.
She knew damn well what that color implied, yet she treated me like a complete fool.
Both of them acted as if I were utterly blind.
Nadia suddenly grabbed the framed wedding photo from the nightstand and smashed it onto the floor.
“Gavin, that is enough!”
“I never realized you were such a disgusting, judgmental hypocrite!”
“You were never like this when we first met! I truly regret ever marrying you!”
“If you are that bored sitting at home all day, get a damn job instead of losing your mind in this house!”
“I should never have come back tonight to listen to your garbage. I have clearly spoiled you too much lately! Think about what you have done, and do not come looking for me until you are ready to beg for forgiveness!”
Still fuming, she raised her hand and slapped me with all her strength before storming out and slamming the door.
Listening to the deafening bang, for the first time in ten years, I did not lower myself to chase after her.
Throughout our marriage, every single argument had ended with me giving in.
My endless devotion had made her forget who she truly was, blinding her to the fact that her family’s luxury and her high-flying career had all been provided by me.
That's everything available right now.
