When I transmigrated into this world, the story was already nearing its happily-ever-after.

As the devoted female lead, my husband and I were supposed to be deeply in love.

For five years of marriage, he treated me with utmost tenderness, so much so that I forgot I was merely a character in a book.

Until our fifth anniversary, when his true self-awareness awakened.

During a fire on the film set, Damian Mercer rushed into the flames without a second thought.

He didn’t save me, though. He rescued Sienna Drake, the toxic second female lead who had chased him for years.

Right after divorcing me, he gave her a proposal that made headlines across the entire nation.

To make her smile, he even had me blacklisted from the entertainment industry with a single word.

Everyone said I brought it on myself, that Damian only chose Sienna because they were true soulmates.

Even he told me, “Aubrey, my only regret in this life is marrying you and making Sienna wait so long.”

I only gave him a bitter smile, saying nothing.

Damian had no idea what his change of heart really meant.

The moment he stopped loving me, I would disappear from this world in the most agonizing way imaginable.

A massive fire broke out on the movie set.

As the flames surged, I saw Damian, who had originally come to visit me, charging straight into the inferno.

The moment I saw him, relief washed over me. I thought I was saved.

Yet, he brushed right past me without a pause. He scooped up Sienna Drake, who was lying unconscious on the floor.

He didn’t spare me a single glance the entire time.

Choking on thick smoke, darkness consumed my vision. I couldn’t understand why he left me behind.

When I woke up, Damian had lost all his usual composed elegance. His clothes were disheveled, and his eyes were filled with heartache as he gently comforted a sobbing Sienna.

“Aubrey, are you okay?”

My assistant asked in a panic. I shook my head slowly, but tears betrayed me, spilling silently down my cheeks.

It had been five years since I transmigrated into this novel. As the designated hero and heroine, Damian and I naturally reached our grand finale.

He had pampered me unconditionally. Over time, I forgot that I was just a character, falling hopelessly in love with him.

Watching the two of them in the distance, a sharp, suffocating pain stabbed my chest.

I knew right then that Damian’s self-awareness had awakened.

I was taken to the hospital, and so was Sienna.

She was in the room right next to mine. Damian had stayed by her side since the set, completely forgetting that I even existed.

I gritted my teeth and walked out of my room, unable to hold back the overwhelming grief inside.

I needed to confront him and get the truth.

“Let me go! Damian, you can’t do this!”

As I reached her door, loud arguing came from inside. Through the small glass window, I saw her crying in his tight embrace.

The sorrow and gentleness on Damian’s face used to belong exclusively to me. Now, none of it had anything to do with me anymore.

His eyes were bloodshot, his voice rough and strained. “Sienna, I’m so sorry…”

“It took me until now to realize that the one I truly love is you.”

Hearing this, Sienna broke into wails, beating against his chest in frustration.

“Why are you only saying this now? Do you have any idea how many years I’ve loved you?”

Damian looked utterly devastated, apologizing over and over again.

Once she calmed down in his arms, he spoke with absolute resolve. “I will divorce Aubrey.”

“I swear I will make you happy.”
