Chapter 3
"Liam, you can't divorce me."
Clara followed, panic all over her face.
"I know this matter is hard for you to accept right now."
"But you will slowly accept it. This girl is very well-behaved. I can ask her to call you Daddy, okay?"
"Ugh." I started retching again uncontrollably.
Disgusting, truly too disgusting.
How did she have the face to say such things!
Seeing me throw up, her expression wasn't great, but she still came over to pat my back.
"I'm sorry, Liam."
"But we've been married for four years. You can't abandon me like this!"
"I abandon you?"
I pushed her away.
Her proximity now made me feel sick.
"Clara, you know very well how I've treated you these years."
When we were dating, I worked three jobs a day just so she could enjoy herself at home.
Later when things got better, I didn't dare slack off, often working overtime at the company.
Even when funds were tight or the company faced a crisis, I never told her.
Because I didn't want her to worry, I only wanted her to be happy.
"But now you suddenly bring out a child and want me to accept her."
"Have you considered my feelings?"
My voice was full of grief and despair.
"No matter what, I won't forgive you. We'll go process the divorce papers tomorrow."
"What about our child? You don't want it either?"
She actually started crying.
"Liam, you got me pregnant. You have to be responsible for me; you can't abandon me!"
I was the one who wanted a child, so I asked her to prepare for pregnancy. She only found out she was pregnant last month.
How happy I was back then, thinking about being a family of three.
But now this child has become her leverage over me.
I looked at her disheartened: "I will give you child support every month."
I turned to leave when a young man walked over with the little girl from earlier.
The man looked pitiful.
"Mr. Roberts, I'm sorry, it's my fault. Don't divorce Clara."
"I'll take the child and leave."
The girl cried again: "Daddy, don't you love Mommy so much!"
"You look at her photo every night, and you still have the tattoo."
The girl pulled up the man's sleeve. There were three words on his arm.
"Love Clara."
It stabbed my eyes fiercely. I took a step back, feeling it was utterly ridiculous.
Married to Clara for four years, she hid the tattoo matter for four years, and I knew nothing like a fool.
"Stop talking."
The man yelled at the girl.
"Your mommy is married. We can't disturb her."
Saying that, he turned to leave, but Clara shouted to stop him with red eyes.
"Don't go."
Then she looked at me again.
"Liam, I beg you, the child is innocent. Let her stay."
Looking into her eyes, I suddenly felt she was so strange.
I also regretted taking her away from the nightclub on that night years ago.
"You don't need to go."
I said to the man.
"I'll make way for you."
I was terrifyingly calm.
But people who know me would know that at times like this, my heart was completely broken.
That's everything available right now.
