Chapter 3 The border part 1
Making direct eye contact with an Alpha is tantamount to laying down your life right then and there. This has become a natural and natural situation for all werewolves due to the greater and stronger intensity of Alpha's aura. Their wolf side is thirsty for dominance, the desire to dominate the surrounding territory and rule over everything is immense. When someone desperately tries to fight eye contact with an Alpha, what happens is that both the wolf side and the human Alpha side try to coax that person into submission. Therefore, for ordinary werewolves, it is necessary to maintain good manners when dealing with an Alpha.
Catharina decides to look down she already felt the powerful aura from Alpha Heidi, the aura of a man who was now standing right in front of him. They were only limited by iron bars that locked up Catharina and Jolley.
Catharina's submission to him made Heidi look at her for a long time. Undoubtedly, his non-human side was satisfied because he felt that he had succeeded in dominating the werewolf who seemed lowly in his eyes.
"Look at me, Rogue."
Even though ahe was enveloped by a feeling full of doubts, but what could she do if his opponent uses Alpha tone? She had no choice.
So Catharina looked up. But she didn't expect at all that the choice to run away from the Hunters and stumble into another Pack would lead her into bigger trouble.
When Heidi said something to her, the atmosphere there changed completely.
The Beta gasped in surprise. Jolley turned her head dramatically in disbelief as she heard what she was hearing, and Catharina? The poor girl froze. She didn't give a meaningful response, because it was impossible if she could still think anything about it let alone get out of this situation.
What she did not hear you correctly?
Alpha Heidi and Joe were gone.
This time, Catharina's plans changed. She couldn't just sit idly by, let alone even think about staying in this Pack temporarily. The initial plan had derailed itself and was completely beyond expectations. Catharina She nodded to get out of the Blue Moon Pack as soon as possible. But how?
In fact it was the first time she had stumbled into a Pack. Escaping the previous Hunters and fleeing the current Pack are two different cases. Catharina wasn't that stupid not to notice. She hopes luck is once again on her side. She didn't have time to observe the outside when she was brought here, so the first thing she needed to do was record the guard schedules in the prison for later processing.
"This is bad," Jolley said, interrupting Catharina's wandering thoughts of plans.
Catharina turned and found Jolley already looking at her with eyes filled with pity. What Alpha Heidi said earlier was really unexpected. Jolley herself had not expected that line to come. It felt much worse than what Alpha had done so far.
"So... you're the White Wolf?" asked Joley.
"Yes," replied Catharina. The fact that she was a wielding white wolf couldn't be hidden forever no matter how hard she tried.
'Catharina, who came out of the Hunters' cage, inevitably put herself in a more difficult position than a normal rogue. How come? She has the privilege that anyone is looking for. Their main goal must be only one, to create a strong offspring. The hardships she has been facing all this time may have been the destiny that the Moon Goddess bestowed on her.
Jolley chuckled in awe. "Cool. I thought it was just a fairy tale."
It was Catharina's turn to look at her in surprise. She had thought Jolley would see her in a different way. She means with bad glasses and judges her. Because her strength it self is not a blessing, but a curse that already exists from her ancestors.
"Oh I don't care if you want to know."
Catharina blinked, then nodded. Her mind returned to plotting her escape. She had no way of following Alpha Heidi's wishes. However, she doubts if she can do this escape mission alone. Maybe Jolley could help her?
Finally Catharina decided to have the courage to ask, "Do you know how many times the guards around the boundary have changed?"
As if knowing where the conversation was headed, Jolley didn't seem the least bit surprised. She had already expected that question would come to her. After all, what person in their right mind would accept fate with a scumbag like Heidi?
"I've tried to escape from here several times," Jolley said.
She doesn't have a family, because she has been raised since childhood in the Blue Moon Pack. When her adoptive parents died, she wanted to live freely. In the sense that you want to get out of this damn Pack.
"I'll help you. We'll get out of here together," she continued with determination.
Then Jolley's plan just flowed, the teenage girl in front of her listened carefully. The girl didn't hide her expression of admiration for Jolley who had a well-thought-out plan. At the end of the explanation, Catharina decided to ask a question,
"When we start?"
Because from any angle, the plan should have been implemented in the nearest future. Isn't the quicker the better? She himself was licked by anxiety if Heidi suddenly advanced her scheme.
"Tonight," Jolley replied.
She put her fingers through her dry and stiff hair bun because she hadn't cleaned it for a few days, then her hands moved to look for something. Something she always hid in there to anticipate emergencies like this. Heck, who would have thought that this cheap trick would eventually be used? Jolley has never been more than grateful to have a hobby of watching action films since she was a child. She was so crazy about it that she often practiced the knowledge from the film in between skipping training classes.
Catharina glanced outside the jail.
"But how are we going to get out of this cell?"
They can't possibly do this iron bending action, right? Ok, she gets the point when humans talk about the superpowers of a werewolf, but people also often forget the fact that they are half human as well.
"With this."
Grinning triumphantly, Jolley lifted a tiny wire from inside her dirty hair insert.
***
"Do we have to do this too?"
This is the fourth time Jolley has asked the same question. She pulled on her shirt, smelling the dead rats they had rubbed on their bodies. Jolley snorted, how many times she complained. This is even more rotten than the prison's wet food that has not been eaten for days.
Catharina shrugged, giving a meaningless response.
"I used this way during my escape before."
Jolley was surprised and curious at the same time.
"From?"
Catharina glanced at her, considering whether to answer or not. Finally she answered in a low voice and slowly as if saying a sacred word.
"Hunters."
Jolley's steps stopped for a moment, making Catharina also stop.
"Y-you were caught... by them? But how come?"
"The Hunters recruited some of our people," Catharina said.
That's all she knows. Wasn't she a good observer? Unfortunately, she did not conclude the reasons for the actions of the hunters, as well as why there were werewolves who were willing to work under the command of humans who wanted to destroy their kind.
Because Catharina knows, werewolves have a high sense of pride and ego. Could it be that those werewolves were brainwashed?
"That was absolutely ridiculous! Why would they want to work with such lowly humans? Ugh!"
"I don't know either," said Catharina honestly.
She really doesn't know and she only has assumptions that he doesn't even have time to figure it out herself.
What Jolley could deduce was that White Wolves like Catharina must have become the center of the Hunters' hunt. She had never thought that far ahead because all this time she believed that the White Wolf was just one of a series of fairy tales her foster parents told her every night.
"Let's hurry, Jolley."
Jolley shook her head, trying to dispel any thoughts that would interfere with their plans for the evening. Catharina is right, they have to focus on the main goal. They had to act quickly before the patrol team that used to roam around the territory's boundaries noticed their whereabouts.
Ever since Catharina was caught by the Blue Moon Pack, Phoebe had always maintained a calm demeanor. This is definitely an unusual movement. Why is that? Is Catharina missing something? Catharina knew perfectly well that Phoebe was an active and nosy wolf. Unless there was something bothering her, Catharina was lost in thought. But what is it exactly?
Suddenly Jolley pulled Catharina back, hiding behind a large bush.
"Careful," Jolley said quietly.
Catherine nodded. Because it was several meters away from where they were hiding, her gaze caught a movement. There were about 3 man on alert at the border line.
"On the east side the patrol team will change to the south side patrol team. There is a maximum delay of about 46 seconds for us to exit to the border line. We have to settle down in the form of a wolf. Because the pads on our feet will minimize the sound when suddenly conditions must forced us to run."
She jotted down Jolley's words while in jail carefully into her brain. According to her, Jolley's observations were truly remarkable. In order to obtain such information, didn't it take several attempts at escape previously? Again, Catharina made her amazed. One of the 3 man, the brown haired one.
suddenly sniffed the air many times and asked his partner.
"Did you kiss him?"
The others joined in sniffing the air
"Carrion... rat?" They immediately grimaced in disgust.
"Shit, it stinks."
"Do you think we should just look for it and throw it away?"
Jolley and Catharina panicked immediately. Unlucky! Are they going to be found out now? Did they just attack right away? But that comes with a lot of risk, if suddenly one of the rangers has time to send a mind-link on their Alpha. Or just step back and try another day? However, the panic didn't last long as another member of the team suddenly chimed in, "Ugh! you do it."
The brown-haired man seemed to be concentrating on something before he said to his friends who were still arguing with each other.
"Just in time. Greg just sent a mind-link, we're switching positions with them now. Come on."
Then they walked away, much to the relief of Jolley and Catharina.
However, just as they were about to get up from their hiding place, a warning howl sounded from a distance. This time, Catharina and Jolley were completely panicked. Alpha Heidi must've known they were out of jail.
There was no mistaking it, that warning howl was a sign that Alpha Heidi had sent a mind-link to her entire army to look for the two female wolves, Jolley and Catharina.
Catharina and Jolley then did shifting, then ran with Phoebe who was leading. The Jolley wolf has a light brown coat color with some blackish interludes. Meanwhile, Catharina's wolf has white fur like snow with a body size that is smaller than Jolley's.
Unfortunately, one of the members of the patrol team realized something was wrong by using his keen animal instincts and returning in his wolf form. When his gaze caught two female wolves according to the characteristics described by the mind-link of the Alpha, without hesitation he immediately ambushed the Jolley wolf from the side. Her fangs dug deep into Jolley's feet causing the female wolf to roar in pain.
Phoebe growled then jumped on top of the wolf and pushed him with her body weight until the opponent was thrown bounce into a pine tree. As a response to being hurt, Jolley automatically returned to her human form and groaned in pain holding her bloodied leg.
"Go, quickly!" Jolley cried out in pain.
Catharina's life may be much worse compared to before. She could not keep Catharina trapped here with her. Well, at least in her life engraved one heroic act to save someone. If she was caught and executed, she at least had a good impression on someone, right?
'No!' screamed Catharina from the thought.
'I know. We have to raise it,' Phoebe's voice.
Phoebe growled, giving Jolley a response to get ready. He then lowered himself so he could push Jolley's weak body up onto his back. Jolley held Phoebe tightly, wordlessly. He knew that arguing here would only be a waste of time and wasted. Then Phoebe got up, jumped on the stone steps around her to stretch a long distance and ran as fast as she could across the Blue Moon Pack's boundary line with dozens of werewolves chasing her from behind. ***
