Chapter 3

"What's the meaning of this, Erasmin Overo?!"

I almost knelt down in front of my manager. I called him earlier and told him the problem I'm in. Now it's like b! he's going to hang me.

It was late when I got home from the bar, but he hadn't come home yet because he had read my messages to him late so I thought he wouldn't be here.

Luckily I had eaten a lot and put the kids to bed before he got home.

He's Jonas Carvajal. An ex-band vocalist who was forced to quit his passion for music to manage their family business, who was also forced to be my manager due to Mama's request since she's one of their major investors.

He's a tall handsome guy with cornrow braids hairstyle. You can notice the darkening under his eyes due to staying up late at a job he doesn't really like.

He's wearing a white v-neck shirt and faded jeans. He looked stressed as he exasperatedly removed his glasses to massage his temples. This spells bad news for me.

"I tried calling the police, Jonas-"

"Are you stup!d? What would be the headlines for tabloids tomorrow?- A Showbiz Actor, Pretending to be a Girl! Turns out she has a Child!" He yelled at me as if he was a news anchor on TV. My eyebrows meet in annoyance.

"What are you talking about? They are not my children!"

"Do you think the public will listen to what you have to say? They will believe in the issue more and they will expand it even more." I just kept quiet. He's right. The public won't care what's true, they just want something to gossip about.

"What shall I do with the children?" I asked him anxiously.

"Be honest with me. Aren't they really your children?" He asked nervously as he held both of my arms and looked me straight in the eye. I withdrew my arm from his nonsense.

"I'm...virgin." I'm ashamed of us. I averted his eyes and bit my lower lip in embarrassment. His jaw dropped.

We were both speechless.

It took him a few seconds to process my words which made him blush. He just coughed through the embarrassment of hearing it.

"Are you sure? You don't need to keep it a secret from me, Era." He said calmly. I held my breath because he was still not convinced after what I said.

"In what way should I prove it to you?" There was a hint of annoyance in my voice as I unbuttoned my denim shorts which revealed a bit of my stomach.

He gulped anxiously.

"Wait! Okay! Fine! We're not done with the children's issue yet but you're making another sc@ndal right away?" He screamed in panic while covering his eyes with both hands even though there were slits. I winced at him. I hope he didn't close his eyes.

When we both calmed down, he asked where the children were so we both went to my room and entered slowly so as not to wake up the three.

"D@mn. These are definitely yours, Era." He exaggeratedly washed his face while not looking down at the three. I frowned at him.

"How can you be so sure? Besides, if I'm going to have a baby, shouldn't I know? I'm the one who's pregnant and giving birth, not their Dad." I reasoned that he didn't listen.

"Don't you feel a rush of blood?" He said like he was crazy that I annoyed him more.

"You want to taste a jumping fist, Jonas?" I threatened him.

"Then what should we do? Your mother will kill me when she finds out!"

"I called you here to help me." I slowly picked up one of the children. "We're going to the police station, but you will talk to the police. You will also say that you saw the children and just reason out that they were lost on the road and you, being a good samaritan, decided to take them to the police station because someone might have filed a missing person report with them." I gave a long explanation and signaled him to carry the other two children to his car.

"That sounds like a good plan but what if no one is looking for these triplets? Shall we bring it back here?" I was also stunned by his question.

"I don't know the procedure but I'm sure we can just figure it out later. It's also impossible not to have parents looking for the three of them."

I hurry to get a cap and face mask to wear before we go to the police station. Even if I don't get out of the car, I should still not be recognized or seen by other people.

When we arrived, Jonas immediately spoke to an officer but I didn't know what their conversation would be because I was only inside the car with the children.

They sleep soundly.

I stared at their gentle faces. They were so happy while talking with me earlier. They invited me to eat and watch baby dino all day. Even though I was tired of hearing the baby dinosaur song, I was very happy to watch them dance. What kind of things do they talk about like their hobby and favorite cartoon characters.

Even though I didn't speak because I was thinking too much, I didn't realize that I was smiling at them. How can I release the pity I felt for a while?

Even if they call me Mama, it will not be true, they have nothing in common with me. I don't want to take them away from their real parents and lock them up in my precious life.

My tears flowed to the side. If I'm not Erasmin Overo, if I have a chance to have a simple life, why would I drive them away?

I don't understand the pain my heart feels. If possible, I wish I could just be their Mom.

I'm going to be the mother I never had.

"Mom, why are you crying?" The children woke up with wide eyes.

I wiped the tears off my cheeks and smiled at them.

"I promised you, right? I'll bring you back to your Papa. I'm sure he's worried about you." I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice from cracking as I spoke.

"No, Mama! We don't like him! We want to be with you!" They stood up and hugged me. My hands were eager to hug them back, but I restrained myself. We don't have to make this difficult between us. This is my problem. No matter how I distance myself from other people, I can't help but feel easily attached when they show me little affection.

"What do you mean you don't like him? I'm sure he's already looking for you." I convinced them but they just shook their heads almost breaking their necks.

"He doesn't want us to be with you even though you're our Mom. He's bad!" They are against me.

"Did he say I'm your Mama?-"

The door of the backseat opened.

"Era, the cops want to see the triplets." The five of us looked at each other inside. The three were surprised by the man they did not know.

It's time. I need to let go of these kids.

"You go out for a while with brother Jonas." I ordered them while putting on slippers but they immediately clung to my body and started to cry.

"No! Mom! W-Why are you leaving us?" I can't speak. Everything I wanted to say seemed to be stuck in my throat and I couldn't say it. Even Jonas didn't know what to do because the children were struggling and didn't want to hold him.

"L-listen to me. He's not a bad guy. He'll help us find your Papa." My voice trembled in pain. I seem to be slowly losing the strength to loosen their grip on me.

"Mama! We l-Love you. Please let us stay with you." Their tears did not stop pouring and they seemed to be afraid of being separated from their embrace. I couldn't stop crying either.

I don't understand what I feel. I have never experienced being a parent but why does it seem so painful to think that they will be without me?

I also want to hug them tightly and not let go but I can't. My life is too complicated and I'm not really their Mama. They will only suffer if they stay by my side.

"Where are the children, Sir?" I was immediately put on a face mask when an officer looked over to check on the children. "What happened? Are they okay?" This is a worrying question because they don't stop crying.

"They're just scared, Sir. They've been looking for their Papa for a while now." Jonas argued that the children were forced out of the car.

"No! Mom! Don't leave us! Mom!" The three jumped out and held on to everything they could to the captain just to keep them from getting out of the car.

The police looked at Jonas and me badly because of what he heard.

"I thought the children were missing and you wanted them to return to their real families?" There was a hint of doubt in the policeman's tone that Jonas immediately answered. "Ah... t-it's true we just want to help, they're really lost." His tongue almost got tangled in the explanation, but the policeman was still not convinced.

"Why do you seem to be the real parents?" He teaches children who don't want to stop crying.

"We are not the children's parents-"

"You can't fool the police. Do we look like a joke to you? Look at the children, they are crying because they know their parents will leave them to the police." He preached to me. This is not good. He's assuming we're just irresponsible parents who want to leave our kids to them.

"No, Sir! You're thinking wrong! They've been crying for a while now because they can't find their Papa-"

"MOM! DAD! LET'S GO HOME!" Jonas and I were stunned by what we heard. Great. Now, we are officially the horrible parents here.

My hands are shaking to cover the three's mouths.

Jonas awkwardly smiled at the cop while scratching his head.

"A-ah... The kids are just confused, Sir. I-I think they think we are their parents because we are with them all day." The tone of Jonas's voice was almost begging for an explanation, but it seemed that the police were no longer listening to him.

The policeman sighed.

"I don't know what's wrong with your family. But you can't just leave your children alone. If you can't take care of them, why did you build a family?" My body softened. It's too late. I felt like Jonas and I were in a family life seminar listening to the speaker's advice on how to strengthen our "family".

Jonas has also lost the strength to fight the police.

"You better go home and apologize to your children. They might be upset when they see the police because they think we're going to get them because of what you did." 'That's all and the policeman walked away muttering about how irresponsible new parents of our generation are.

Jonas's soul seemed to escape from us both.

"Do your children want to act? They are even better at acting than you-uk" I scolded him. My man@kit's hand has been itching for a while now and he hasn't really shut up.

"W-the police are gone! Success!"

Jonas and I both darkened our eyes at the three bubwits who looked very happy with what they had done.
