Chapter 2

After ten years as husband and wife, I really didn't want to make things ugly.

I tried to control my emotions as best I could.

"Cody said you want to have a baby with him. Is that true?"

Her face stiffened.

"Yes, I do. Is there a problem with that?"

Suddenly, my heart felt like it had been injected with ice. I was cold all over.

"Vivian, you're my wife!"

Her eyes were filled with contempt.

"Someone can help me, so why shouldn't I accept?"

"Can you just stop looking for trouble?"

"And don't look at me like that. You're the one who can't have kids. I'm in my thirties, I'm not going to go my whole life without a child."

I never thought she would use that to hurt me.

The year we got married, we were on vacation when we were mugged.

I was injured protecting her, and I lost the ability to have children.

When I was in the hospital, she cried and said, "Finn, it's all my fault. I ruined you."

"But don't worry, I don't care about that. I'll be with you forever, I'll take care of you."

For ten years, she never once mentioned wanting children. I knew it was because she was afraid of hurting me.

But now, she was using it to humiliate me.

My thoughts snapped back to the present, and the pain was unbearable.

"So you slept with him?"

I stared into her almond-shaped eyes.

They started to overlap with the eyes of the girl I knew years ago.

Back then, in college, she had smiled and said, "Finn, I love you so much."

Now, she just stared at me coldly.

"So what if I did?"

"He can get me pregnant. You're just useless!"

The word "useless" slammed into my ears, feeling like it ripped my eardrums apart.

Pain. My whole body ached.
