Chapter 2

The moment the message was sent, my screen lit up with replies.

"Blair, what is going on? Did someone bully you at work?"

"I told you, Blair, do not be too polite to people! No one is allowed to bully a member of our family!"

"If Blair really likes selling things, why not just buy her whole company? You can be the boss yourself!"

I was just smiling at these overly protective messages when my phone rang. It was a call from my mother.

"Blair honey, what happened? Did someone at the company upset you?"

I smiled and lowered my voice a little. "It is nothing, Mom. Just some petty people causing a little drama."

She let out a cold snort on the other end of the line. "If you cannot swallow this anger, we will just buy the company and change the boss! Stop hiding your identity and let them know who you really are."

I gave a calm smile and spoke softly. "Mom, there is no need for that. I just love the feeling of selling properties and earning commissions. The sense of achievement from signing a deal is so great!"

She paused for a moment on the phone. Her tone was a mix of helplessness and heartache. "Blair, you are just like your father, always loving a challenge. You are a wealthy heiress, but you insist on working at a real estate office."

I laughed and replied to her. "You already knew this, Mom. I just like keeping my name hidden and making money through my own hard work."

"Hmph, you just had to hide your name to sell houses! When your aunts and uncles heard about it, they wanted to buy units as employee bonuses. But you insisted on stopping them. If they had bought them, no one would dare bully you now!"

"Alright, Mom, I will handle it, so please do not be mad."

"You are way too nice to them. Giving up your year-end commission is one thing, but we will not take this insult! If anyone tries to force you out, they have another thing coming!"

After hanging up, I felt in a great mood. I took my time and found a nice restaurant to enjoy a good lunch. Before this, I was always so busy at the sales center, standing all day long. Since they wanted to steal my territory, I would let them work themselves to death.

I went home and peacefully took a long afternoon nap. I put my phone on silent and tossed it aside.

In the late afternoon, my phone screen lit up. It was a call from Mr. Thorne, just as I expected.

As soon as I answered, he asked impatiently. "Blair, why are you not back yet?"

I spoke in a slow and relaxed manner. "I am seeing a doctor right now. I was too busy pushing sales before, so it is time to take care of my health."

The boss sounded even more anxious. "How can a minor illness take you this long? Everyone else is working hard, and you are nowhere to be seen."

I let out a soft laugh. "Mr. Thorne, I am legally taking my sick leave. I never took a day off when I was fighting for sales targets. Now my body cannot take it anymore, so I must rest."

Hearing this, his tone filled with clear dissatisfaction. "You really think too highly of yourself. Making such a big fuss over a simple sick leave."

I immediately replied in a calm voice. "Boss, if you keep talking to me like this, I might have to turn on my voice recorder. After all, an employee must protect her legal rights."

He was completely choked by my words. He hung up the phone in a fit of pure rage.

A moment later, a notification popped up in the work group chat. Mr. Thorne had posted a long paragraph with a very clear message. It said some people took themselves too seriously, lacked discipline, and ruined team harmony.

I chuckled lightly as I watched my coworkers reply one after another. They were all echoing his words and attacking me. "Some people are just too selfish. They slack off while watching others work hard."

I took screenshots of every single message to save them. After they finished their ranting, I calmly sent one reply. "I have kept a record of all this. Thank you all for your feedback."

The group chat instantly went dead silent. The very next second, all their messages were deleted completely.
