Chapter 3

03

Snapping back to reality, I looked at Kelsey’s youthful, immature face.

I could not help but sneer inwardly.

With her usual academic performance, there was no way she could have scored that poorly by accident.

In our past life, she claimed her family’s sexism ruined her focus, causing her to fail.

Back then, I felt so much pity that I doubled down on paying for her retake.

Having lived through it once, I now knew she had failed on purpose.

Brock had terrible grades, so his family planned to send him away to do manual labor after high school. Kelsey came up with this scheme just so she could tag along.

All those sob stories were merely excuses she fabricated for outsiders.

Unfortunately, in my past life, I failed to see through her lies. Instead, I contacted her parents and asked them to monitor her studies.

Looking back, she had resented me since that exact moment for ruining her plans and stealing her so-called happiness.

In this life, I would never repeat that mistake.

I looked at Kelsey, who was carelessly tapping on her keyboard, and said, “In that case, let us break up.”

Kelsey casually muttered an okay before her brain registered what I had just said.

She instantly ripped off her headset and turned to glare at me in disbelief.

She could not comprehend why the boyfriend who used to pamper her endlessly was not comforting her, but rather ending things.

I kept a calm smile and repeated, “Since that is what you want, let us break up.”

Kelsey froze for two seconds before turning away in a flustered rage.

“Fine! Since you agreed, what are you still standing here for?”

“Just remember, I dumped you first!”

Hearing the blatant fury in her voice, I did not swallow my pride to coax her like I used to.

Instead, I turned on my heel and walked out, leaving her alone in the cyber cafe.

In this life, I respected her choices.

I wanted to see what kind of fairy-tale life she would build with her foster brother!
